Doing a good job clearing out my house, and have lots more to go. Help me out!
4x235/40/17 Toyo RRs with only 4 heat cycles. One has a plug (proper umbrela plug). $400. Basically new for 1/2 off.

Holy shit the tread width on those RRs is 9"? Damn they run wide. I know "slicks" usually run wide, but didn't know almost an inch wide compared to a street tire. I could possibly be interested just for shits and gigs but, I know I probably can't push my car enough for those tires right now though

Kind of, but I have to drop em off in Charlotte in 3 weeks and I told him I would *tentatively* hold them for him if you want them.

I don't think I should yet. Should I do it in all honesty? He said RRs would be perfect.

Depends. Are you going to do more than 1-2 track weekends a year? If so, yes a 2nd dedicated set of tires makes sense. (so does a seperate set of REAL race pads). If it is 1-2 track weekends a year, I wouldn't even worry about it.

Well the question becomes can I do more than 1-2 a year? Yeah I can after this summer.
Should I without another mode of transport or proper race set of things? Idk. I was almost stranded last Sunday haha.
With the NASA membership I can get any 17" Konig set of wheels for $300 so that's why I'm thinking about it.

I went to Hoosiers after a couple track weekends myself. I think it really depends on the driver. I would have to talk to your instructor. My initial impression is you don't have a confidence issue. That helps and hurts you. Confidence (and a little bit of arrogance) is needed at the track when you are driving. Hesitation ends up hurting more drivers, especially at the lower levels then a "go for it" attitude.

My instructor was Rodney something. #14 red 94 mustang. I feel like moving too quickly will hurt me even if I do have the confidence and such. At the same time it might not be bad. I know the more seat time the faster I'll get (hopefully). I think my biggest issue is weight at this point.
Would more tire at this point help me or will it just slow me down?

Then yes you want an alternative set of track wheels and a full set of track pads/rotors

Depends on your skill level. Sticky tires do a really good job of covering up bad habits that are harder to unlearn the more experience you get.......
