Salar Haji - 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser & 2001 Toyota 4Runner - Yota_Cruisin - 09-16-2014

What a great club to join! Its been only a couple of weeks and I already love everything about it. It's by far my favorite club I'm in. Well, I'm Salar Haji, a freshamn here at JMU. My major is engineering and I drive a 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser bone stock :| But she goes anywhere and everywhere I want her too. I'm very proud of my Cruiser. I also recently just bought a 2004 Toyota Tacoma. The engine knocks so I got a sweet deal on it. We recently swapped out the engine for the same 2.7l engine however, the new engine has low compression in all 4 cylinders. I'm thinking it may either be the head gasket or it may need a valve job. I'm not sure yet. I just cant wait to get it running. I can't wait to hit the trails! Here's some pics of both of my rigs. Thanks

*UPDATE*

Sold the tacoma... Turns out, I was in way over my head, shortly after the new engines (yes Multiple)... I noticed the trans slipping... Then, I had a super bad misfire, the truck would turn off randomly while driving... And, my frame was done.. I decided to test the structural rigidity of my frame with my trusty hammer, sucker went right thru.. So i had to get rid of it, it was a Money Pit... I traded the tacoma for a 2001 Toyota 4Runner Highlander edition and I love the thing! I have a few pics

I have such a weird love for those Land Cruisers. DJ and I saw one in black on the drive home earlier this week. They look so understatedly-pimpy.

Welcome to MM!

So, I'm assuming the Taco isn't a TRD? If it is, we need to do the grey wire mod immediately! Easiest and most useful mod you can do.

Re: Salar Haji - 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser & 2004 Toyota Taco - Yota_Cruisin - 09-16-2014

No :/ Unfortunately it's not. I was thinking about still getting that factory locker installed. But idk for now. I'll see how it does on the trails and if it REALLY needs it, I'll throw a locker in there. I wish it was tho Sad

As long as you pick your lines well, you don't need a locker. At least not until you start doing crazy stuff.

Re: Salar Haji - 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser & 2004 Toyota Taco - Yota_Cruisin - 09-17-2014

Read a great article on the BBC website a while back about how LandCruisers were the cheaper and more reliable Land Rover/Range Rover. As they say if a Landie ain't leaking it's empty.

I went into that link expected a newer landcruiser, which would have surprised me. FJs are the holy grail in the toyota community. The SAS parts from FJs fuel most solid axle tacoma builds. There is actually a really nice Fj60 in harrisonburg. I smile whenever I see it.

Re: Salar Haji - 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser & 2004 Toyota Taco - Yota_Cruisin - 09-18-2014

Thanks man! And the FJ is the Ultimate Landcruiser. It's my dream to own one! Some day haha. And actually, the owner of that fj60 is a close friend of mine from high school. Next meet, If you guys are cool with it, I can ask him to tag along. He's got a sweet ride!
