The Cars & Coffee, Etc. Pic Thread - Goodspeed - 05-18-2014 Rather than clutter the H&B'ed thread, I figured I'd start a separate one for snaps taken at C&C and other random events that people can post in. Just about every other weekend I'm out at one of the NoVA C&C's, and I'll probably attend more often once I have another fun car so I'll be putting a bunch of shots in here. I'm still a rank amateur behind the lens but I'm looking to improve - the more events I attend, the more practice I get. Anyways, I went to the Fair Lakes C&C this morning - perfect weather, and a great assortment of cars. I met my old Miata's near-doppelganger, owned by a guy who lives probably half a mile from me funnily enough. He had actually contacted me about buying mine last year just after it sold, so he knew who I was and showed me a bunch of similar mods he had done which was pretty awesome. Hit me right in the feels as I miss that car. Also of note is the yellow Lotus Sport Elise (Evan, I can't recall which wheels you bought for your Exige, but I thought you might appreciate seeing these), and the stock, 52k-mile TT 6-speed Supra. I chatted with the owner who has had it for 9 years, a total creampuff example that is actually for sale. Subtract a few grand from the mileage and you've arrived at the price. The VW Type 3 had a WRX EJ25 I believe, and had a big crowd around it almost the whole time. Pic Thread - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-19-2014 Ran into David and David at the Great Falls Katie's cars and coffee and finally got to see that F40. It was only the second drive out of my neighborhood for the LS1. Registering the car today so I can drive it to work this week, and picked up gas for my welder so I can finish the exhaust. It's uh....loud right now. Re: The Cars & Coffee, Etc. Please describe the looks on the faces of the oldest, snootiest C&C attenders as you rolled up with open headers at ~8AM  Re: The Cars & Coffee, Etc. The amount of "wtf" looks was fun. Next time I Go though, I will be popping the hood and runnin away or not popping the hood at all. I do appreciate people asking questions and being generally excited about it, but I am not a people person and I just wanted to enjoy the atmosphere. This has to be the first car I have owned that I could pull up to a car show and the crowd gathers round, and as I get out someone said "You can't roll up here like that without popping the hood". My fantasy since you started building this thing (yes... I've had recurring daydreams about your car...) is to pimp it through reston town center on a normal quiet Saturday afternoon just to see how people react to it. Re: The Cars & Coffee, Etc. Pic Thread - Goodspeed - 05-19-2014 It sounds like, as you build the exhaust system, you should incorporate some electric cutouts. Re: The Cars & Coffee, Etc. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YOU BETTER DO THIS. Re: The Cars & Coffee, Etc. Pic Thread - Goodspeed - 06-24-2014 Ran over to the same C&C this past Sunday, ran into Jake there. Lots of quality automobiles: ![]() ![]() ![]() Jake was a big fan of this truck, with good reason. Git'r'dun Jake  ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Speak of the devil - I just posted about admiring one of these in traffic the other day and here one (perhaps the same one) is. Definitely growing on me. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This car was something else. It's a hand-built "boattail speedster" from Moal Coachbuilders in CA. Several of his creations had their own special presentation at Pebble Beach, and a bunch of them are owned by the same guy, who was sitting in this example. He's been on Chasing Classic Cars a few times, where I recognized him. Real nice guy...I overheard some conversation around this car emanating from the morning-cigar millionaire crowd that a certain large chinned, denim-wearing retired comedian may be in the area in October and may grace this event with his presence. ![]() ![]() Re: The Cars & Coffee, Etc. Pic Thread - Jake - 06-30-2014 Saw this at Sunday's C&C in Fair Lakes, it's under the hood of a BR-Z. I had a lol. ![]() Re: The Cars & Coffee, Etc. Pic Thread - .RJ - 06-30-2014 Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Pic Thread - Goodspeed - 08-03-2014 Another round of photos from this morning - I debated being a bum and sleeping in, but I'm really glad I made it out for reasons that'll be blindingly obvious in a moment  Firstly, this is the second SRT-10 ACR I've seen in person, and it's an awesomely imposing car in the flesh. It also has the most heavily bolstered seats I've ever seen. Probably necessary for 300-some-odd width PS Cups all around. ![]() ![]() There's been a small group of Opel GTs that have been showing up recently, totally random but really cool cars. This one was totally immaculate. ![]() ![]() Similarly immaculate Wagoneer. Who else remembers seeing these during their childhood? Total blast from the past. Dat wood. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Mmmm....I like these. ![]() ![]() At this point I was about to leave, when I spotted this parked away from the crowds. I'll give in and let my inner Supra ch'i flow freely, as this was quite the treat to see. This is an iconic car in the Supra community, dating back to about 2004 or so. It's a '97 model with only about 29k miles on the clock, that was originally built by a guy in Pennsylvania. Basically, if you searched "single turbo supra" or "supra vs. bike" or whatever in the early days of Youtube, chances are you came across this car. This was back in the earlier years of the Supra boom, where big power meant 15's/DR's on the street, a laggy 80+mm turbo, and relatively crude engine management. Now, the same kind of power is made with smaller frame new-gen turbos and managed with high-zoot ECU's with built-in traction control, boost by gear, etc. Anyways, this was one of the first truly crazy street cars - back when 6 and 700whp was the norm, this was making 1200+. I spoke with the current owner, who has had 3 MKIVs prior to this example and he mentioned the car changed hands once or twice but wasn't really driven the past several years. It has a stroked 3.4, a Garrett 88mm turbo, and older AEM engine management - basically, as it was a decade ago. He just purchased the car, and said that it is a truly scary drive at the moment - it is making 1,387whp in its current state. He shot a quick vid on the way to C&C this morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLGY64cA_2g&list=UUNARIFm_AgJolelfzLcd8OA&index=1 ![]() And a quick two-step vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_03c8qmc3c&index=3&list=UUNARIFm_AgJolelfzLcd8OA ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyone got a spare ~$120k laying around they could lend me?
