"real name" field under avatar - Senor_Taylor - 02-24-2014
I think it'd be beneficial to have a field for our real names under our avatar. Where our post count, titles, and such are.
Not everyone's username reflects their real name. I know it's not a big deal for anyone that isn't a new member, but every little bit helps when trying to get people to know each other.
Edit: I'm dumb as a butt. Can someone move this to the suggestions section so my pedantry will be in the right place?

I could also, track their IP, drive to their house in the night, steal their wallet, and look at their Driver's license.
There's always a way to do something, just not the most convenient.
The name thing is very common. It's been on just about every forum I've ever used. I actually remember someone earlier this year called YOU "shadetree" because they thought that was your name. This isn't some anime forum or something, we all know each other in real life, or will soon. We should address each other as such.

I've been lucky over the years to snag the name "Taylor" on a few forums. That should be name on here, actually, not sure why I didn't try it.

I actually like this idea. Especially when I'm looking for people who joined before we lost all of that information and have no way of finding an intro thread.

We can all do this voluntarily by putting our names at the top of our signatures. I'm not sure if it's an option in the forum backend or how difficult it would be to add, I don't have access to it so I can't go in and fiddle around.

I can poke around on the admin console, but it may be more hassle than I can really take on right now. 'Til then, I'd suggest adding your name to the top of your signature if you really want it there.

I updated my sig so current students can figure out who I am if they're so inclined.
I'm starting to run out of room in there too, I've had way too many freaking cars.

Yeah, the signature works, but if it's not too much hassle to do, the sidebar option is better. I'll add it to my signature too.

Done....your welcome. Fill in first name within your profile. It will not display unless you enter something in the field of your profile. As displayed on my side bar thingy now.
I can change the field name to whatever. Thought first name was appropriate.
