Anthony Avino - m3lover453 - 01-29-2014 Hey guys my name is Anthony Avino and I am a Junior in the College of Business. I transferred here from West Virginia University and have a dying passion for cars. I am all about the German Engineering car scene and won't touch anything that is not BMW. Got into cars from helping rebuild my friends Eclipse 3G engine top to bottom and knew after that I was hooked. I currently drive a 2007 BMW 335i with a few mods. Love the whole car meet scene and potentially am interesting in tracking the car down the road. ![]() Mods: Dual Air Intake by Burger Tuning JB+ chip N54 Chargepipe Tial Blow Off Valve 20% Tint all around Re: Anthony Avino - JPolen01 - 01-29-2014 Welcome! You'll find an infinite amount of knowledge on all things BMW around here. I'm more of Japanese type guy, but I'm slowly learning the German side too. Hope to meet you at some events. Re: Anthony Avino - Sully - 01-29-2014 Welcome. Run into the HPFP issue yet? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk Re: Anthony Avino - Jake - 01-29-2014 How many pedals does it have? Re: Anthony Avino - BFisch06 - 01-29-2014 Welcome! There is certainly a lot of BMW love around here *paging Jake - Jake to Introductions* (He's owned 17 or something ridiculous). I'm an American guy and even then I lean heavily towards GM but that's a nice looking 335 if I do say so myself! Re: Anthony Avino - Jake - 01-29-2014 BFisch06 Wrote:*paging Jake - Jake to Introductions* (He's owned 17 or something ridiculous). Hey now, I'm still in the single digits with my cars. Although I have had... six BMWs. Shit. Re: Anthony Avino - ispoonwithmugen - 01-29-2014 Welcome man! I was the guy you were messaging earlier. I like the car alot. Can't wait to see you around! Re: Anthony Avino - SlimKlim - 01-29-2014 Welcome! Glad to see another BMW nerd among us! Re: Anthony Avino - Senor_Taylor - 01-29-2014 Welcome, dude! i think you'll find in just fine with a BMW. Re: Anthony Avino - BLINGMW - 01-30-2014 Welcome the BMW!!
Re: Anthony Avino - *insertusernamehere* - 01-30-2014 Oh this is perfect for club diversity! Welcome! e90 335i is actually where I want to go after the e36 if I were to get another BMW, butthatsnotgonnahappen. No. I won't. How are you liking it? Re: Anthony Avino - Jake - 01-30-2014 *insertusernamehere* Wrote:Oh this is perfect for club diversity! Of course it is! We have too many E36's around here and not enough neu-klasse BMWs
Re: Anthony Avino - m3lover453 - 01-30-2014 Hey guys can't wait to come out to future meets. To answer your question Sully, the reason I could not make the meetig last night was due to my car being at the charolettesville BMW dealer to replace the hpfp. Crapped out on me at Ecl but it was under warranty thank god and got it all fixed. To answer Jakes question it's auto and yes I'm not thrilled about it but I was on a price budget for this 335i and 4 door sedans in manual weren't as common as 2 door 335i with manual which I couldn't afford insurance for. Re: Anthony Avino - m3lover453 - 01-30-2014 And shadetree I love the 335i. It's a solid car and I love the turbos. Before this I had an e46 m3 but I got torn a new one from maintenance and needed something that wasn't going to need something new every week. The 335i does have a decent amount of turbo lag though even with a chip but the gas mileage is unreal. 30mpg with moderate driving. Re: Anthony Avino - davej - 01-30-2014 As current keeper of the Elder Roundel, welcome! it must be a great feeling to have a car break down, but know it's covered under warranty.... Re: Anthony Avino - *insertusernamehere* - 01-31-2014 m3lover453 Wrote:And shadetree I love the 335i Interesting though. Maybe look into a software update from the dealership? Apparently that helps to reduce noticeable lag or something...but.. it is still a turbo so..its gonna happen. Re: Anthony Avino - Jake - 01-31-2014 Part of me also wonders if "turbo lag" and "delayed throttle response because BMW's electronic throttle mapping sucks" are one and the same. I have no turbos, but I could really use some throttle re-mapping to make it operate over a better protocol than dial-up. Re: Anthony Avino - SlimKlim - 01-31-2014 Yeah it's been a while since I've driven anything with that motor but I don't remember particularly bad turbo lag from them. When I think turbo lag I think of the RPM range before the turbo will scroll. It's like 2100 rpms in the GTI and you'll occasionally catch it where it's out of boost, then flinch and hope it finds the turbo before the truck you pulled out in front of hits you. With 2 turbos or a twin scroll you're pretty much always in the boost range. Lauren's car has a twin scroll and it produces full torque at 1,750 rpms. I'm curious to see how much of an improvement remapping the throttle makes on Jake's car. It seems like all of them after 2000 or so have incredibly dead throttle pedals. I can rev match my '95 just by twitching my foot in the direction of the throttle pedal, but I had to literally slam the throttle to the floor in Jake's car to get a proper downshift out of it. I'm sure the GTI is the same way but I don't notice it with the DSG because I'm either on the throttle or off of it. Re: Anthony Avino - V1GiLaNtE - 01-31-2014 SlimKlim Wrote:I can rev match my '95 just by twitching my foot in the direction of the throttle pedal, I can attest to this.. A quick "blip" and a gear change and it's smoooothhhh like butta. Re: Anthony Avino - m3lover453 - 01-31-2014 The lag isn't insane but even with a minor chip like the jb+ I feel like there should be little to no lag at all and unfortunately I can't justify spending $800 on a COBB right now. |
