97 Civic EX Coupe FS - Sully - 01-05-2014 Starting this to gauge interest if anyone is in need of a beater. Mileage: 137,xxx? Somewhere in there Transmission: 5sp manual as the gods intended The good: Just did the main shaft bearing that somewhat commonly fails so the trans should be good for quite awhile. -New Clutch less than 3k -New OEM Flywheel -New CV half shafts -New valve cover gasket -Brake and Clutch recently bled with ATE Super Blue (shit is mad rare and adds like 1,000 HP which is probably why it was outlawed )The bad: -Could use window regulators/motors ($47 per door)(windows currently still work) -Hood latch handle broken ($8 but hood can be opened still) -Motor/trans mounts probably wouldn't hurt (est $150 for all 5 or something) -One CV is slinging some grease (I can't spot any tears though) -Most likely needs AC compressor (<$200) -Trunk lets in a little water. (Probably from tail lights, but that sealant stuff is nasty so I haven't put it on yet in case someone wants to go back to stock lights) -Wiper switch has broken detent. Still works but doesn't "click" into settings. ($45) Car starts up and drives pretty good. I currently drive it And wouldn't be worried about it standing me. All of the bad things are mainly cosmetic or comfort. It has a lot of dents and dings mainly on roof and hood but overall paint is surprisingly good. It's an EX, so it's like an Si for poor people. Will be updating with pics and anything I left out and forgot over the next few days or when I get around to it. As-is price for MM and friends is around $2,250 If you want all the shit fixed, $2,800-$3,000 I don't drink beer so PBR and Natty will not be acceptable forms of payment. The astute may have noticed the car listed above and the car in my signature are different MY's. Well after noticing this little conundrum, I checked my insurance card and the b-pillar and the car was built 11/97 meaning it is a MY98. I know thats what you've all been waiting for so you can form a nice orderly line to buy this beauty Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk Re: 97 Civic EX Coupe FS - Senor_Taylor - 01-29-2014 Man, if this was like next year... this'd be perfect for me. Re: 97 Civic EX Coupe FS - CaptainHenreh - 01-29-2014 Let me know when you'll take 1200 bucks.

New tires went on yesterday. And inspection done. Re: 97 Civic EX Coupe FS - CaptainHenreh - 09-23-2014 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Let me know when you'll take 1200 bucks. Lemme hear what the insurance company has to say. Re: 97 Civic EX Coupe FS - Sully - 09-23-2014 Yea. But remember it's not a perfect car in any sense of the word. I think you could get away with just trans mounts instead of all the engine mounts but it's kinda a shot in the dark to me as I'm not sure that's what it is. It shutters pretty hard under load leaving first some of the time. Made worse by turning the wheel and leaving from a stop so I'm guess it's the trans bouncing around under enough load with enough torque as you would experience getting the car moving. And then there's all the other stuff i listed. But hey, it's a two thousand dollar car. I've been driving it again since the tires and it still drives and runs. No hesitation to do what's asked of it. Re: 97 Civic EX Coupe FS - RawrImAMonster - 09-23-2014 Hell I'm tempted to buy it at that price. Sadly enough I would probably trust an old 90's honda over mine for long trips. |
