Crappy != not finishing the job. You're missing some bolts that matter more than you initially thought. Just finish er up :-)

The liquid gasket has cured so added the bolts, I feel, would mess up the gasket. They'll probably have to take the pan off to drill out the bolts anyway.

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Senor_Taylor - 07-30-2014

Well, after taking it to a shop to get them to drill out the bolt, they said I needed an entire new pan. That cost me an extra $130. (I was at no room to argue because my dad does business with them). I demanded they give me the old pan when I paid for it. I got home and saw that the magnets were still in the old pan! I called them and they said it was fine, which is just not true. So, I threw a welding magnet on the bottom of the pan for a week and my uncle redid the pan while I was at work one day.

I look under my truck today and what do I see? ATF dripping from the drain plug. So far I've paid for THREE drain and fills of ATF on this truck in a month...

I also believe I have an injector clacking rather loudly.

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Jake - 07-31-2014

Well the good news is that because the shop put the pan on, it's up to the shop to make it right at no cost to you.

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Senor_Taylor - 07-31-2014

If only things worked that way...

Not anymore I fear. Idk how he would have proved that the magnets aren't in unless he went to another shop and they found the problem, then maybe he could try to get them to pay. Unless his uncle is at a shop, maybe then they could try to get some money. I feel like once they took the pan off after the shop did it, the shop can deny any wrongdoings. Time to leave nasty feedback on for shop.

Run a snake cam up the drainplug hole.

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Sully - 07-31-2014

Very true Rex, i didnt think of that but that would certainly have worked.

Of course, all this probably seems like:

I beg your pardon...? I feel like you should probably buy dinner first...

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - CaptainHenreh - 07-31-2014

He's been fucked like twice already. :dunno:

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Senor_Taylor - 07-31-2014

All these options are great, but I'm kind of tired of buying $50 worth of ATF OVER AND OVER AGAIN. haha.

My truck and I have given it up multiple times already, we're both sluts at this point.

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Senor_Taylor - 08-08-2014

Transmission pan is no longer leaking; thank goodness. Changed the oil today (in record time) and noticed that the freaking shop that screwed up the transmission job ALSO put one of my skidplates on backwards. How the hell did they manage that?

Driver side is sitting a little low compared to the passenger side. I need to buy those new shackles and have a shop put them on. These leaves are REALLY difficult to deal with.

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Senor_Taylor - 08-16-2014

A spark plug managed to back its way out today. Tightened it back down and a lot of the "ticking" I've been hearing is gone. I guess it's time for plugs and wires soon.

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - V1GiLaNtE - 08-16-2014

Or check all your plugs first before just throwing money at it?

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Senor_Taylor - 08-16-2014

By soon, I mean eventually. It's really just about time to do them. I'd rather change them all at the same time. I probably won't get to it until christmas, anyway.

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Senor_Taylor - 12-27-2014

Got some OME Greasable shackles from Wheelers for Christmas. Going to get a quote to have them installed soon. I'm excited to get rid of the squeaking and threat of a fiery death from the jury rigged nut I have holding the stock one on now failing at speed.

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Senor_Taylor - 12-31-2014

Got my OME greasable shackles put on today for only $90. The bushings still squeak because I guess I didn't put enough grease around them when I put them in the leaves. I'll post a picture soon. Very happy with them so far.

Also, looking into tire sizes as I think that'll be my next purchase. I need something in a 33, but 10.5 inches wide or less. Any suggestions?

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - V1GiLaNtE - 01-02-2015

About the only tires that come in standard 33x10.5 are BFG ATs & KM2s. Unless you run maybe 285/75/16 which is about 32x11". You can find those all day on craigslist from JK Rubicon take offs.

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Senor_Taylor - 01-02-2015

I definitely want to go 33". If I find some cheap 15" wheels, I'll downsize so I can save a butt load of money on tires. 33x10.5x15 BFG ATs are on sale for something like $150 on tire rack right now. I just don't think I can fit a 12"+ tire in my wheel well above a 31"

Thinking about getting KM2s as a 255/85/16 or something in a 285/75/16

Re: Project DD moonlighting as trail rig - Kaan - 01-02-2015

oh we can make it fit. Smile
