Old school - D_Eclipse9916 - 12-16-2013

So this weekend I went out with the girlfriend to her parent's house. You would think, oh cool, conversations about work/school/etc to start and then get to know them. Nope, instead my girlfriend dictated that her dad could only show me "one room" of the house.

Explanation: Her dad loves toys, specifically of the automative kind

That room would be the garage, which he kind of cheated and showed me both garages.

Opens up the garage to these two beauties (I didnt take too many pictures cause I didnt want to seem lame, so sue me, ill get more later). Some of these pictures are from his website.

The yellow one on your right is called "old bones". It is an original 1960 Kellison A/D dragster kit.

That engine is huge. So is the supercharger, the belt alone is 4-6 inches wide. Here is a website photo of it under "build"

The engine is a 2005 Blown Alcohol Keith Black Stage 6 aluminum wet block - Chrysler Hemi. Displacement: 526 c.i. Original Bowers 10:73 Blower. Original Hilborn mechanical fuel injection. Output: claimed 3000 hp Apparently is a $50k motor...

He told me he had taken off the 2nd magneto and spark plug setup so current "tune" is in the 1700hp range. Blows my mind, an aluminum 526 cubic inch HEMI wtih a MASSIVE blower. This is my hand on the pulley, the supercharger is MASSIVE.

Now, being this is a front-engine dragster, I just dont see how guys drove these things. Balls of steel. Oh and talking about balls of steel, your balls must be, cause they will be sitting on TOP of the rear differential. Your legs fit around the differential to drive it... There is no cover, this is a complete photo...

He also had a t-bucket he built with his daughter. Jess and him apparently toured around a lot and she has class wins of her own.
The t-bucket they built, I will have to get more pics of this myself, but I was too busy "oohing and aahing"

Lol this was more supposed to be about his collection than me dating his daughter.

I guess I just have never been exposed to this, my parents/family were NEVER into cars, and aside from a brother-in-law that I was sheltered from, wasnt exposed to motorsports.

My "automotive taste" has been constantly changing and I never saw hot rods/old dragsters/honda-engined pull-wagons. I went from ricer to "sorta ricer" to autoxer to racer and who knows where I will be next?

Re: Old school - Goodspeed - 12-16-2013

Your future F.I.L (because God wants you to wife her) must be swinging wrecking balls to own/drive such a thing. Google "Big Daddy Don Garlits Foot" to find out why - but that is entirely badass.

That thing looks SCARY. You could not convince me to get in that thing and "drive" it at the track

That is pretty much instant death if that thing loses traction or ends up in the wall

THANK YOU!!! He was mentioning "Rat Fink", "Big Daddy" and a couple of other names that just went right over my head in conversations. Goodspeed, you would be the perfect person to go with us to some of his showings (so I dont look like an idiot).

He has a special display going on in Harrisburg, PA from January 29th to middle of february, where his cars are getting featured or something. I think he is one of the organizers or something for Motorama. I am very new to this type of stuff so correct me whereI am wrong.
