Ok, i promised the chica that I would get her a gaming system, and it benefits me because I can load up on racing games. So which is better? what are the pros/cons of each system?

No seriously, I'd go with the PS2, the only reason I even bought XBox is for Halo and Halo2, the fact that I now have it modded and play other games was just an added bonus.

Right now? I'd hold out for the next generation... I really enjoy my PS2, tons of games, free online play... XBOX has better graphics, and Halo... but PS2 is for me.

There's mod chips available for both actually, but as Mike said you void any warranty doing that. Also modding either makes it impossible to play online I believe. There may be newer chips that you can get that still let you play online but I haven't seen them.
