Want a new daily - HAULN-SS - 09-17-2013

To avoid shitting up the cool cars for sale thread..starting this one.

Interested in buying a new daily driver.

Requirements: 4 doors, possibly manual shift, enough ass to get out of its own way. 22+combined mileage (flexible) , would like to keep it right around 100k or less on the clock. Price is flexible but $10k seems to be a good starting point.

Have kicked around a 540i M-sport, but it seems like those are hard(ish) to find. Did manage to find one in blacksburg last night:

Re: Want a new daily - .RJ - 09-17-2013

I'd hold out for an E39 540 for that kind of money.

You can also get an E46 330i easily under $10k, and if you look hard or stretch your budget a little, you could get a ZHP.

Agreed. What about like a '09 Legacy GT?

Re: Want a new daily - HAULN-SS - 09-17-2013

Uhh, isnt the '95 I posted an e39?

Re: Want a new daily - .RJ - 09-17-2013

Thats an E34. One generation older.

Re: Want a new daily - HAULN-SS - 09-17-2013

I already had a Legacy GT '06 model. It was an alright car, but when I just did a glance to get into a 2008/9 would be more like 15-18k.

Re: Want a new daily - HAULN-SS - 09-17-2013

Ah - well, I wouldnt rule out an e39, but I do like the looks of the E34 better.

Yeah for a daily, go e39 and OBD2, not e34 and hodge podge 19-yr-old elecromechanical stuff that stopped working 10 years ago.
Or yes, also strongly recommend E46.
And of course as always I have to recommend the inline 6 for either. Though I sometimes find I'm in the minority around here when 0-60 in 6-7 sec doesn't qualify as being capable of "getting out of its own way". :dunno:

*edit let me see if this works* Which would your prefer to trust every day?

E39 530:

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE
E34 540, the radiator is on a separate diagram because they had to make room for this thing:  [Image: 194.png]

I would agree on the recommending the inline 6, much more reliable.

Channing, even my 7500lb truck does faster than that 0-60

I'm... seeing 7.2. That's almost Honda Element territory :bootyshake:

You sold your cool car, time to buy another one

Re: Want a new daily - BLINGMW - 09-17-2013

I think the Element could tow the 2002 0-60 faster than the 2002 could do it on its own.
Maybe I should get an E34 M5! :o

Re: Want a new daily - Jake - 09-17-2013

The E34's are cool old cars, but they are old by now. Much as I liked mine, I'd rather daily-drive an E46 or E39. Find one that's in good shape, has had the maintenance done, and features six cylinders/three pedals. Can't go wrong there. And the interiors are so much nicer than the E34/E36 generations.

If you got one in red I might have to kill you for it.
