Patrick Johnson - Ghost - 09-05-2013 Hey whats up guys!! Im Patrick currently a junior at BRCC/ODU with a major in mechatonics and a minor in industrial engineering. I had heard about MM thru one of my good friends Jon Combs. I had tried to start a car club at BRCC but failed due to lack of... well.. mature responsible car enthusiasts. Well I guess heres a little bit about me Im 21, work at Hollister INC. in Facility Maintenance, Im into anything with a steering wheel, guns, love taking pictures, and having a good time. Ive been to VIR probably a dozen times, summit point 5 times, Road Atlanta 2 times. unfortunately Ive only been on track at VIR 2 times and on track at summit point once. Ive done quite a few auto-x with SCCA and PCA, and have been in 2 drift events. right now i have a 1992 240sx and a 2012 VW GLI. here are some pictures, enjoy! messed around with plasti dip for awhile. this look didn't last long before i took the plasti dip off current look this was the last PCA auto x i went to. right now the GLI is on APR stage 1 on 20psi and APR stage 1 intake it should be close to 240whp and 300tq the 92 240 is on function and fourm type 2 coilovers and just has very minor things done to it. it is currently for sale this was my daily for almost 3 years I look forward to seeing everyone again at the first meeting and just a few things from Road Atlanta and drift valley this past summer. I am defiantly not the best photographer in the world lol Re: Patrick Johnson - JPolen01 - 09-05-2013 Welcome man! I don't think I got a chance to meet you the other night, but I was the guy that talked for a while at Klines. Cars look cool! Hopefully you can come out to vir in October. Re: Patrick Johnson - Ghost - 09-05-2013 Ah ok ill have to meet ya in person at the need meeting, how do we sign up for the email? Yea man I plan on coming to VIR! Re: Patrick Johnson - JPolen01 - 09-05-2013 Send your email in a message to the facebook page. And just some general housekeeping, we don't allow pictures in signatures. They just tend to clutter up pages and make them longer than necessary. Re: Patrick Johnson - Ghost - 09-05-2013 Ahh ok my bad. Re: Patrick Johnson - SlimKlim - 09-05-2013 Welcome! That's a nice DD, stick or DSG? I've been kind of tempted to tune my GTI, but despite the fact the tuners say you can do Stage 1 with no additional mods, I have a hard time believing all that extra heat won't cause issues over the course of a few years. :dunno: Re: Patrick Johnson - Ghost - 09-05-2013 Thanks! I love it. Mines a stick, they said with DSG you can go up to K04 sawp with 350whp amd have no problems because its double clutch. Thats what the APR guyw said when I did my stage one. The VW dealer in Staunton is a licenced, in house APR dealer. Thats wherr I did mine. APR is still covered under warranty. My fuel mileage went up by 1-2mpg avg also. So far no bad side effect... well.. minus tires haha. I've kept an eye on oil lvls and oil heat. As well as any boost spikes or faults with the DV. I've done that with the help of the computer at tje VW dealership that my friend works at. So far evrything is very normal. I've put 7000mi on it with the tune amd intake. And taken it to an autox and I drive it very spirtitly on the street lol. No isses yet Re: Patrick Johnson - davej - 09-05-2013 Man I love seeing another VAG fan on here. welcome, and don't let the haters give you any crap for das auto. Re: Patrick Johnson - D_Eclipse9916 - 09-06-2013 Welcome, are you planning on replacing the 240sx with something? Re: Patrick Johnson - JustinG - 09-06-2013 Welcome aboard. I have a bluetooth OBD-II port but unfortunately the MKVs won't let you access Oil Temp or Pressure, the only things I could monitor to keep an eye on heat are water temp and exhaust temps. I have a shop that will give me a Revo tune at cost, but I'm still not sure I'll do it. If I use launch control I'll just shred the front tires to bits even at stock power levels, and I'd rather spend the money on the project car. ~220hp is just fine for a DD in NoVa traffic anyway. If it was my only car I'd definitely be screwing around with it though. Re: Patrick Johnson - ScottyB - 09-06-2013 welcome! Re: Patrick Johnson - BFisch06 - 09-06-2013 Welcome! I may have seen you at a autoX or two... you attending tomorrow's PCA event? Re: Patrick Johnson - Ghost - 09-06-2013 BFisch06 Wrote:Welcome! I may have seen you at a autoX or two... you attending tomorrow's PCA event? Unfortunately I will not.. I was originally but other plans came up Re: Patrick Johnson - Sully - 09-07-2013 Lincoln, my roommate and uhh I guess former MMer has KO4's in his S4. I know nothing about VAG (well there is no good way to say that) but I know he didn't shut up about those turbos all last year. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 Re: Patrick Johnson - BFisch06 - 09-08-2013 The K04 is the stock turbo used in GM's LNF engine (which is in both of my cars). Can't say enough good things about them. Re: Patrick Johnson - Ghost - 09-08-2013 The k04 comes on some Audis and the Golf R and i think speed3. APR has a turbo swap kot for the gti and gli that I would love to do (hopefully next summer) One of my friends has a k04 swapped gti and he's making roughly 360 at the wheels and something like 390tq. The way the car ia geared its a monster from a highway roll. Re: Patrick Johnson - BFisch06 - 09-08-2013 Good lord! How much boost is he running to make 350+? 25 or 27 psi? The LNF's can hit 350 crank with a tune and a few supporting mods, but 360 at the wheels is incredible. Re: Patrick Johnson - Ghost - 09-11-2013 He's running 28psi on the k04 in te gti. My industria engineering professor at brcc is running 30psi on a gt28 in his 1.8t passat that's hiw daily and he runs meth on it lol dude is crazy.. he also had a dodge stealth on a wet shot for awhile haha. Guy just likes to go fast Re: Patrick Johnson - Ghost - 09-11-2013 The gti is also direct injection. I don't know if the LNF motors are or not. Hes got full intake full TBE exhaust bigger IC and of course the APR tune |
