FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - SlimKlim - 08-08-2013 ![]() ...to hire me as your next marketing coordinator, content manager, social media marketer, business/product requirements definer, knowledge/content management platform guru, business-technology communications extraordinaire, or anything and everything in between. I was recently "affected" by a company-wide "restructuring" that "impacted" a significant number of people at my last company. I've spent the majority of this week getting my bearings, fleshing out my resume, rebuilding my online portfolio, getting some guidance from old co-workers and deciding which direction I want to go. I figured since so many of us are in the NoVa area, I might as well post my stuff here and take advantage of any potential networking opportunities. You can check out my web-ified resume here: http://jklimchuk.net/resume/ Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - Ken - 08-08-2013 Damn that sucks, if you're open to moving let me know and I can put some feelers out. Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - SlimKlim - 08-08-2013 *I'm* not particularly adverse to moving, in fact I'd like to be out of NoVa and somewhere more rural (not LI, sorry) within the next 5 years, but right now its not an option. I'm tied to a lease on this townhouse until June, and Lauren currently had a strong career going in the government contracting proposal field, which is pretty DC-centric. Good news is I met with an ex-coworker this afternoon who has contacts in great companies all over the area. She's putting in good words for me at Capital One, a small online t-shirt operation called CustomInk, and a company called Front Point Security that's trying to get an online subscription business off the ground, which I have direct experience in. She's also going to try to bring me into her new company which is developing a "pet healthcare content portal" of sorts, which is my #1 preference so far. I hope she's able to convince them to bring someone else in, they have a super aggressive beta timeline and it sounds like they need asses in seats and fingers on keyboards if they want to make it happen. Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - JustinG - 08-08-2013 Lemme know if you put in for anything at Cap One. I'm in Richmond but may know the hiring manager in Mclean. The Req ID is 739618. How do you like working for CapOne? I've heard some mixed reviews about the working environment. Not that I can afford to be particularly picky, just trying to get a feel for everything. Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - .RJ - 08-09-2013 I wish we could bring you in here, our marketing/social media is a shit show. Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - navin - 08-09-2013 If you find any job req's at CGI Federal, pass me your resume. Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - FlaakCM - 08-09-2013 If you find any job req's at Accenture, pass me your resume. **Yes i know I copied Navin, on purpose
Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - SlimKlim - 08-09-2013 Thanks guys, I'll check 'em out and let you know. .RJ Wrote:I wish we could bring you in here, our marketing/social media is a shit show. Where do you work? No reason I can't apply for a position that doesn't exist. I'm persuasive. 8) Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - .RJ - 08-09-2013 Learning Tree in Reston. Part of the issue is cost (gov't sequester has really hurt business) and the other is 5 monkeys syndrome. Welcome to the AOL Layoff Club! People say "it's for the better" all the time; I can tell you that's true. Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - JustinG - 08-09-2013 You mean Amazon is better than a Dial up ISP? Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - Apoc - 08-09-2013 JustinG Wrote:You mean Amazon is better than a Dial up ISP? Find: Amazon Replace: most everything Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - .RJ - 08-09-2013 Amazon is NOT better than a titty bar Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - FlaakCM - 08-09-2013 Amazon has nothing in NOVA for my field. Considering they use the same data center as us, I find that really surprising. Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - JustinG - 08-09-2013 .RJ Wrote:Amazon is NOT better than a titty bar No, but you could probably order some Titties and have them on your doorstep in 2 days. Or 1 day for $3.99. Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - Apoc - 08-09-2013 .RJ Wrote:Amazon is NOT better than a titty bar There's one next door to my building. (That's why I said "most everything.") Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - SlimKlim - 08-09-2013 Yeah I looked at Amazon jobs too, apparently they had a tech writer position that I could've done but the listing went down before I got to it. And yes, every minute I get further away from AOL, the more sure I am that this is a good change. Not necessarily fun or easy, and I hope I find a new position before my meager severance runs out and I have to sell my babies, but pretty much anywhere I land has to be a more stable place to work. http://techcrunch.com/2013/08/09/armstrong-confirms-hundreds-of-layoffs-at-patch-400-sites-shuttered-or-partnered-off-and-a-new-ceo/ "Armstrong reportedly fired an employee who took his photo (behavior he presumably didn’t approve of), while on the call with 1,000 people listening in." ....just a.... stellar guy... Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - SlimKlim - 08-09-2013 Oh and by the way, now that I've spent some time wading through listings and spoken to a recruiter, I think I'm targeting positions titled "Marketing Coordinator" it plays to the skills I developed at AOL, but will move me more into the realm of stuff I like to work with, marketing copy, creative assets, email jockeying, etc. Re: FS: Joey Klimchuk, Your next totally awesome co-worker - Evan - 08-09-2013 .RJ Wrote:5 monkeys syndrome.had to google this. amazing. ps- I was going to say that its not 2010 anymore, and companies now know that social media is really marketing/PR. But looks like you already got that. |
