Petition of Lane Splitting in VA - G.Irish - 07-11-2013 http://www.change.org/petitions/commonw ... red-lights I have little hope that this will actually pass, but glory be if it did. Of course, it might be dicey the first couple of years before people got used to motorcycles lane splitting. Re: Petition of Lane Splitting in VA - rherold9 - 08-14-2013 I'll say this I support this but with the way people drive these days I feel like people won't be paying attention and just swerve and nail a bike lane splitting (I know this can happen even when a bike is on the road normally)... Re: Petition of Lane Splitting in VA - G.Irish - 08-15-2013 Yeah I would be very judicious about when and where I lane split. My feeling though is that as long as you keep your eyes on the wheels of cars ahead of you, you'll see someone start to turn soon enough to avoid it. I've had people try to merge into my lane plenty of times during my commute and I'd be hitting the horn and backing off before they even got 6 inches over the centerline. If traffic is moving slowly they won't be able to change lanes as quickly either. |
