New Vette? - davej - 01-14-2013

I kinda like the non-corvette look, but think they went a little overboard with all the vents, and not a fan that they mostly lifted the tail lights from a camaro.

specs on paper sound awesome. the interior looks real well done, but not in red....that looks like ass.

Thoughts?

Hi-Res C7 Reveal Pics - Steve85 - 01-14-2013

Some things I love, some things I don't. Overall though it works. The things I don't like are the gauge cluster, no need to overdo the Stingray theme with that outline, tail lights are getting Camaro comments, while different, more similar than they needed to be, Stingray emblem is tacky (big surprise there from GM) and I'm willing to bet a lot of folks have it removed.

I love the way the roof line pinches in and runs all the way to the bumper mid-year (C2) style. I think with the Stingray name coming back and the number of similarities to that era design, it was the basis was for keeping it "Corvette" without being a retro car (Camaro/Challenger/Mustang). And I likey.

Re: New Vette? - SlimKlim - 01-14-2013

I like it a lot, I think its a little over done in some places, but I'd rather see a production car that's a little over the top than one that's been completely neutered from the concept. Love the interior, and mechanically it seems awesome, but I don't understand how the rev match feature works. Do you have to hold down the paddle thingy while shifting? Why isn't it just an on-off button, and why are there two of them?

I must be growing a mullet without me knowing it, but I love that red interior. (although I would advise anyone on buying one to buy it in black for resale  )

I love the new vette, rear end takes a little getitng used to but mmm. 'Is sexy

2013 Detroit Auto Show - G.Irish - 01-14-2013

Couldn't get out to Detroit this year due to my impending wedding but I'm also psyched about the new cars being showed off. This year it looks like there'll be a decent amount of new sports car hardware with the C7 headlining. Another NSX concept will also be shown, and there might be some news about where Honda plans to race the new NSX.

Thoughts on the C7? I don't like the tail lights and I think ll of the vents should be body color but overall I like it. I think the C6 design is less busy but my fiance actually thinks the C7 looks more sophisticated and expensive. I guess if it was in black I'd be cool with it. One thing's for sure, the interior is WAY better.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - Jake - 01-14-2013

Just merged the three threads on the C7 all together.

That red interior is hawt. I want to see better/closer photos of the interior details. Rev-match stuff is sweet for street driving, I drove the 370Z with it, and really enjoyed it. I think for track use, I'd disable the system.

The exterior is a bit busy for my taste, but I really like it in the dark grey that Steve posted. Obviously certain colors show off the lines better than others. I really wish GM would stop adorning every Chevy with Camaro-esque taillights. They work okay on the C7, but even the new Malibu has them, and in that case, they are overdone.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - JPolen01 - 01-14-2013

+1 for the Grey. Not digging the red interior at all. Also agree on the camaro inspired tail lights as being ugly.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - premiershine9 - 01-14-2013

Viper front end, cool functional hood, GTR-ness all over....fender vent behind front wheel, typical terrible interior which is Audi + GTR + what the hell was GM thinking mixed together.

but.....I really like it and i'm sure it'll grow on me.

I feel like this C7 will look great and still look crazy cool and radical 10 plus years from now. Some editions.....ahem C5, I feel, aged terribly.

My 2 cents

I dont like the ass end at all. And IMO all the vents should be body colored. Congrats...you have vents everywhere, but I don't need them to be that obvious.

That chrome strip across the front grill needs to go, along with those big ass vette flags. I'd also prefer 2 exhaust outlets that shape to the opening over the 4 round tips. With all the sharp angles going on back there the round exhaust tips just look out of place.

2013 Detroit Auto Show - JPolen01 - 01-14-2013

^thats probably the best summary of the car I have seen. The flags look so tacky along with the exhaust tips. My original thoughts on the grille were that they took the focus st grille and stretched it. Dislike.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - ScottyB - 01-14-2013

hate the front grill, the bumper-carz steering wheel, and the stingray emblems are tacky. not really a poke at the vette, but i'm sick of the LED-eyeliner treatment. its becoming the slightly upscale Altezza faze.

otherwise, love it, and looking back its a huge, huge leap from their past designs which were getting stale. when i first saw this i thought "world class". not even worried about the performance, i know it will be amazing even in base form.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - CaptainHenreh - 01-14-2013

Why all the chrome grille line hate? Jesus guys, a can of plastidip is like 5 dollars.

I would like to have seen the roof and a-pillars body color. Other than that, I like it. Don't hate teh camaro tail lights either, I think they look fine.

Aaaaaaaand I can't wait to see the Widebody. LAWDAMARCY that gonna be sweet as hell.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - HAULN-SS - 01-14-2013

+juan to what rex said. It'd look dumb as shit without the grill line. I saw a shop of the painted A-pillars and that would be an OK modification. Not really sure wahts the fuss with the tail lights either. This isn't the first vette with square tail lights (angular, rather).

Regarding vents..im sure we'll see people painting those body colored, but they dont really bother me. The one thing that I think is kind of weird looking is the vented surround around the tail lights

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - G.Irish - 01-14-2013

New Infiniti Q50, ehhh... a little too melted looking for my tastes.

[Image: 002-2014-infiniti-q50-1358178420-opt.jpg]

Same engine carries over from the G37, but it gets a V6 hybrid model. I think it's unbelievably stupid of Infiniti to change their model numbering scheme. It wastes brand equity that they've built up and gains them nothing. Must be nice being an exec whose big idea is "All of our model names should start with Q".

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - SlimKlim - 01-14-2013

I'm with Rex on the A-pillar of the 'vette, it really should be body color, it reminds me of a Crossfire...

That infiniti is a step backwards in design, the outgoing G and M models are put together so well. That grill looks like a photo copy of the new Lexus design too. Blech.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - G.Irish - 01-14-2013

Yeah I hate the new Lexus design language, especially on the new IS. The Infiniti isn't as bad but it loses a lot of the aggressiveness of the old design.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - HAULN-SS - 01-14-2013

If I just look at that Q50 from the hood/top of door down, it really looks a lot like the current model Jaguar XF

This. The grill screams xf.

Re: 2013 Detroit Auto Show - HAULN-SS - 01-14-2013

Do anyone know if the ELR is going to be revealed?
