WTB: Affordable Mountain Bike - NTIman - 11-28-2012 So here's the deal, I've rode/raced BMX bikes for years, but I'd actually like to go more than 10 feet without feeling worn out or completely uncomfortable, so it is time that I step up to a mountain bike. I don't need anything crazy, but I do want something that isn't a piece of crap and can take some mild abuse. I'd like to hit some easy/moderate trails starting out, but who knows what else. I just want something that isn't going to break or break the bank. Basically, I'm cheap and I don't know if I want to put the money into something new just to start out with. Any suggestions? Re: WTB: Affordable Mountain Bike - Evan - 11-28-2012 I have a trek id like to get out of my garage to free up space, what size do you need? Re: WTB: Affordable Mountain Bike - NTIman - 11-28-2012 Probably around a 17 inch. I might be able to go bigger, but it probably wouldn't be a good idea. Re: WTB: Affordable Mountain Bike - ScottyB - 11-28-2012 i was in your shoes last year. if Evdawg's bike doesn't work out, keep in mind this is a great time of year to shop for a bike deal. its offseason and lots of shops will be trying to clear out 2012 inventory as well. hardtail 29er seems like it could work well for you. simple, and the prices are down nowadays. Re: WTB: Affordable Mountain Bike - Evan - 11-28-2012 well shucks, mine is 19.5 Re: WTB: Affordable Mountain Bike - NTIman - 11-28-2012 Evan Wrote:well shucks, mine is 19.5 I figured. I think that would probably be a little to big for me. I'm on the shorter side of the spectrum. |
