Long Haul Car Transportation? - JPolen01 - 10-18-2012

Anyone ever shipped a car via a transporter company? Specifically a race prepped Cayman. I have a cayman coming into VBD for a Martini Livery, should look very cool once it's done, and then need to get it to Bonita Springs, FL so the owner can race at Sebring. Anyone have any leads on a reliable company? He is from Canada and lives in FL in the winter and for some reason his Canadian shipping company is not legally allowed to pick up within the US :dunno: I know it's a long shot, but figured I would try.

I'll drive it down and walk back.

Not that the owner wouldn't love that idea, but I don't think he would be happy with his brand new livery covered in bugs.

You don't need a cdl to drive an f350 with a ball hitch trailer. I can do that.

Dan, bad experience at MAM? Trevor told me to ask Greg...

I have this company 2 minutes away from me and i see them unloading a lot of high end cars. Could be worth a look. http://www.plycargroup.com/

A little context maybe. You see Jay's face on the home page but this the company Wayne Carrini(sp?) from Chasing Classic Cars uses to ship his high dollar cars all over the country. They might be a little too expensive, I dunno, but a guy that lives in FL and Ontario and races a Cayman seems to have above average resources.

AHHH!!!! I see that transport a lot too!!

And Jon- Greg might have a "preferable" shipper of choice....when I was in MAM we had a couple shippers mess up pretty good BUT i'm sure G probably has someone in mind

I know you don't need one but I have one if it makes Trevor more willing to give up the truck

Re: Long Haul Car Transportation? - JPolen01 - 10-19-2012

Thanks Steve. Based on your link and recommendations from Greg at MAM, I recommended Intercity Lines to our customer. Hopefully it works out and doesn't hurt his wallet too bad. With the way fuel prices are it might be a tad expensive. Oh well.

Jon,

A little late, but NASA members get a discount through vehiport.

Not sure if my customer is a NASA member, but we ended up changing everything and going with the guys I know at Raail Auto based out of MD. Intercity was too booked to work with our timeline. As our customer told me earlier, it really is who you know. Got shipping from the burg to Bonita Springs, FL for $1000. Intercity wanted $1300 so I saved him some money.

Re: Long Haul Car Transportation? - Sully - 10-24-2012

I would have done it in the vbd truck for $750
