Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 07-19-2016 Sully Wrote:So I haven't really followed it at all. If you live in a area with no emissions testing, provided you can get it for stupid cheap, is there any reason to buy a newer tdi vehicle. Are the mpgs really bad or just not as good as advertised. Will you even be allowed to own one. I guess it wouldn't be worth anything for resale and idk how the buyback works, doubt anyone would sell it privately for less than they get for buyback. Thought just crossed my mind.Read the god damn thread Sully. Literally every question you asked was answered in previous comments. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Sully - 07-19-2016 You know how hard it is to go back through Tapatalk. It displays like 5 posts at a time. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: Automotive News Discussion - .RJ - 07-19-2016 VW *has* to buy them back unless they figure out how to fix them. I wouldnt touch one, you could buy one now but you wont get same deal as current owners. Re: Automotive News Discussion - rherold9 - 08-15-2016 Voodoo Magic: https://www.carthrottle.com/post/infini ... ly-clever/
Re: Automotive News Discussion - Senor_Taylor - 08-15-2016 I'm not sure how I feel about Nissan making this. I'd rather Ford do it so it can fail in the first 10,000 miles, or maybe BMW so it can fail at 1 mile past the warranty and cost 100 times more than the Ford part. Perhaps maybe made by GM so it can be recalled, or by Fiat so it can be recalled a year after it kills 5 people. This Nissan business means it might actually work... unless Stephen buys it. Re: Automotive News Discussion - BLINGMW - 08-16-2016 Thaaaat's pretty crazy. I'd be surprised if that extra complexity actually had enough advantage (if any) over just shutting down cylinders to make it to production Re: Automotive News Discussion - CaptainHenreh - 08-16-2016 That's very clever, and very french. Reminds me of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_Vari ... ion_engine Re: Automotive News Discussion - HAULN-SS - 08-16-2016 aren't things like this going to be laggy af with all that extra mass to get moving? FYI i didn't read the article Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 08-16-2016 Corvette Grand Sport configurator is up: http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-grand ... r-own.html I really like what GM is offering here. About as fast as the last ZR1 around a racetrack, which would put it on par with stuff like the 991 GT3 and 458, but for not much more than the base Stingray, and you don't get the overheating problems of the Z06. Supposedly GM is fixing the Z06 heating issues for next year, so maybe the smart money is on a used Z06 with a retrofit. A new Z06 would be cool but that would be in the $90k+ range with the Z07 kit, whereas the GS with the Z07 package would be about $20k less. Carbon fiber bro package and other things are expensive. Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 09-09-2016 Undisguised shots of the upcoming McLaren P14 (650S replacement). Aggressive, curvy, and stunning. Looks like this car spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel, will be interesting to see how much downforce it makes. http://www.motor1.com/news/98011/mclare ... sor-spied/

GT350R also threw down a pretty damned good lap time and of course the Viper ACR was way up there. America kicked ass here. Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 09-09-2016 1. i love that the ACR is still untouchable. hell of a way to go out. 2. holy shit GM...V6 camaro just .1 second off of the RS and 1/2 second behind the hellcat? C7 in the company of a McLaren and isn't the GS a slower trim than the Z06? 3. GT350R is still the one i think i'd want 4. wow the R8 is not the performance car it used to be in this company Re: Automotive News Discussion - Ken - 09-09-2016 ScottyB Wrote:1. i love that the ACR is still untouchable. hell of a way to go out. Damn. This makes me want to move up my timeline for the V6 Camaro i was thinking about. Re: Automotive News Discussion - G.Irish - 09-09-2016 ScottyB Wrote:1. i love that the ACR is still untouchable. hell of a way to go out.Yeah looking at the Camaro SS it is a full 5 seconds up the road from a M4. Running right there with a GTR. Very, very impressive. And that's not even its final form! (ZL1) The crazy thing about that Grand Sport is it's down almost 200 horsepower to the Z06, and is only 2.5 seconds slower around a 4.1 mile road course. 650 hp is 650 hp, but for $20k less to have a car that fast around a race track is a bargain. Maybe the only bargain that makes you think twice about the price of the Z06. The 488 time is 4th fastest ever. It felt hilariously fast and I guess it truly is. I'm interested in reading the C&D breakdown, I'm betting they set that time with TC off. Re: Automotive News Discussion - CaptainHenreh - 09-09-2016 ScottyB Wrote:4. wow the R8 is not the performance car it used to be in this company I mean...it hasn't changed. 10 years and frankly I couldn't tell you a "new" one from an old one. Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 09-09-2016 CaptainHenreh Wrote:The new ones have that giant boxy grille. That is the only noticeable difference. :dunno:ScottyB Wrote:4. wow the R8 is not the performance car it used to be in this company Re: Automotive News Discussion - ScottyB - 09-09-2016 G.Irish Wrote:650 hp is 650 hp well, on the dyno at least, when the car isn't desperately trying to pull timing and cut power to keep from overheating. did GM retrofit a solution for that yet? G.Irish Wrote:And that's not even its final form! i've heard its...OVER 9000 CaptainHenreh Wrote:I mean...it hasn't changed. 10 years and frankly I couldn't tell you a "new" one from an old one. sure. just sayin', wow remember when cars that looked like that, were expected to own the top of a time chart? toot toot ima camaro, plz give point-by kthanx Re: Automotive News Discussion - CaptainHenreh - 09-09-2016 ScottyB Wrote:sure. just sayin', wow remember when cars that looked like that, were expected to own the top of a time chart? toot toot ima camaro, plz give point-by kthanx Well when you're VAG and you don't give a shit, this is what happens.
