Hahahahaha

PS4 Destiny gameplay looks incredible:

Bungie sure has come a long way from Marathon, which I remember being incredible for its time on my olddddd school Mac PC

Granted, this is to be taken with a grain of salt, but it makes a little more sense: http://www.neowin.net/news/anonymous-xbox-engineer-explains-drm-and-microsofts-xbox-one-intentions

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 06-14-2013

I, for one, would welcome DRM if I could get a cloud based game that was $30 instead of $60.

I never buy used games and I end up selling my used one for $20-$30, so it would all work out in the end.

I mean it was pretty obvious that's why MS did it, i don't think anyone needed a developer to hop on a trolling forum and confirm it. The issueis that most gamers don't want that, at least not right now. I am a tech person, i love gadgets and things that make my life easier. with that said, and maybe this is a generational thing, but i don't need to wave my damn hand to browse the internet or say a word to turn on my TV. i certainly don't need all that to play video games. when i actually have time to game i want to sit my happy ass down, not talk unless I'm talking smack to noobs, and use joysticks to play a game. Even if you have a good internet connection, they always go down or get spotty at some point. i don't want to have to rely on that to game. MS can have fun being trailblazers, its looking more and more likely that they are going to lose a lot of their former customers to Sony.

I'm also tired of paying for a subscription to play online. And i don't even use the voice controls in either of my last two cars. That is so lazy. /alumgrumpoff

Anyone seen the trailer for the game "The Crew" yet?

Looks pretty sweet.

Backwards compatibility via streaming won't be here until next year apparently. Not sure how the costs are gonna work out on that. With a PS Plus subscription you get what looks like a free indie game every month. It did kinda sound like you needed to pay up for PS Plus to get multiplayer on PS4, not sure on that.

As far as exclusive games there wasn't much that got me excited, GT6 for PS3 looked really good, and a new FPS game The Order 1886 looked decent. No indication whatsoever as to what launch games will be available.

The Destiny demo looked interested, it looks there's ad hoc multiplayer co-op where 6+ people can randomly join a big battle to fight with you. Unfortunately it won't be out till 2014.

All in all Sony's conference was better than MSFT's. They really could've just revealed the price and the lack of DRM and it would've been winner. But a lot of the gameplay looked fun and most of the major franchises are gonna be on both platforms.

My assessment also. I don't like the lack of backwards compatibility, but it matters less if I'm going to, you know, change platforms.

I'm still waiting to see what GabeN has to say about the steambox, but it might be time to think about selling my 360 while it's still worth something.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - G.Irish - 06-14-2013

That guy is full of shit. First of all, if it's all about moving the game on to digital only, why prevent a user who has the physical disc from playing if they don't have a connection? All they would have needed to do is remove the drm authentication requirement if you have the physical disc and it would've killed a lot of the controversy.

Secondly, if it was about going digital and charging less for games, why aren't they charging less for games? Even now there are some shrinkwrapped 360 games that you can also get digitally that cost the same whether you get a physical or digital copy. I don't think for a minute that Microsoft is looking to lower prices with this. Why would you? Without competition from used games you really wouldn't need to discount any more aggressively than they do now.

And that's the other thing, if the idea is to lower prices so that people buy more new games, they can do that right now. Lower prices more aggressively and more people will decide to buy a new copy as opposed to a used one. But they don't do that even now because they'd rather keep prices high and make money off DLC. I don't have any problem with that model (as long it's not abused) but I think it's bullshit to try to act like Microsoft's plan was to lower game prices.

I don't think that'll be the case if a significant portion of the Xbox 360 population switches to the PS4.

It also seems to me that people aren't that excited about CoD Dogs anyway. I think I'm gonna go with BF4, 64 player multiplayer sounds intriguing.

Does the "must be sold through authorized retailers" mean you can sell your used games back to places like amazon?

No details yet but I imagine Gamestop, Best Buy and Amazon would be where they'd start with a program like that. It'll be interesting to see how the price structure works out though.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Mike - 06-18-2013

the comparo has me leaning a little back towards xb1 if anything. the race seems more even presented that way than it did from the announcements.

+1

I'm really interested in what the used game authorized retailers are. If I can sell my games back, I have no concerns.

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - WRXtranceformed - 06-18-2013

my brother made a good point, that the controller for the PS4 has always been far inferior. As stupid as that is, I really want to wrap my hands around both because I have definitely never had a lot of love for PS controllers.

I'm curious, to you and Chris what are the details on that comparo that are pushing you toward XB1 vs. PS4? XB hardware has always been inferior to PS so that shouldn't be a surprise, but what else on there makes you want to +1 it

Re: XBOX 360 - Gamertags in 1st post - Apoc - 06-18-2013

The fact that the specs are pretty close and I may be able to sell my used games back. I'm also intrigued with the three different OSes. Windows 8 needs serious help, but I think there's good potential for the XBox1 to be a media PC. I currently hook my laptop up to my monitor with an HDMI cable - I'd love a more purpose built entertainment machine.

I was going to mention the controller last week, but I figured I'd be called a fanboi. IMO, the XBox controller is damn near perfect and I can't imagine using the PS one in it's place.
