Just wondering if it's really that great of a deal. It's definitely a good deal. If it wasn't that i just got a TV last year and Toni would fucking kill me if i got another, i would get it. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 07-12-2016 They have the non curved for $100 less. Decisions, decisions. I've been watching it. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 07-12-2016 Oh. I was reading a third party site. So you're going with that over curved? I've had my eye on that 55in flat version for a while. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 07-12-2016 The curved one is gone. Still haven't seem the flat one pop up. I'll probably jump on that if it shows up Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 07-12-2016 So much for the flat screen samsung Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - davej - 07-14-2016 I picked up the kids edition of the base kindle fire, after reading up on their Freetime Unlimited program. It puts it into a kids profile with limited functionality and touted the ability to block content and set limits for usage based on time and/or content. i.e. you can play games for 30 min, but have unlimited time on books. That part works fairly well, and there's start/end of day time to prevent them from using it outside those hours. I think it'll help redirect their frustration of me taking a device from them when the time is up. Interface wise it will display all the content amazon thinks is appropriate for their age, but doesn't distinguish easily for what is actually downloaded/usable vs what isn't, so if we're in the car they would see all of these titles but can't get them. There is an ability to block the Freetime Unlimited content but you have to select each title, one at a time. In case you were wondering, there are currently 7809 items available, and I had to click on each one to block it. (times 3, one for each kids' profile) Why there is no select all/block all button is beyond me, but it will let you unblock all at once... Also when new titles are added by amazon, they'll just show up and I have to block them manually again, no auto-block new content setting. Being able to choose between whitelisting or blacklisting when approving content needs to be there. I submitted a few comments, spoke to CS, but that's as far as I can get right now, looks like people had been complaining about this for a couple of years now. There are some hacks on how to get around loading a full video file into the kids program, so I might not be completely dead in the water once we get in the car for a trip, but again, that'd be nice to have integrated. /EndAmazonAppRant Tablet wise, it's the same as their $50 fire, more than fine for a kid, and the case/warranty seems ok. Maybe the app will have better admin tools for it by the time it becomes pertinent to most of you. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 07-14-2016 Update and a question (mainly for Lee): They updated the gear app again. This time, fingers crossed, so far, it hasn't crashed. Just diving into playing with this thing but I noticed something. Mind you the watch has been sitting on my dresser since I got it and I throw it on the charger every once in awhile to see if it needs a charge. (hasn't really so far) but today when I picked it up to start messing with it, I noticed the bezel feels looser. Like you can tap it and it moves enough to make noise. Definitely thought it was tighter before but it's not like it could have worn out because I haven't used it. Lee, how is yours? Slightly loose? Think it's my imagination or maybe temperature change cause expanding/contracting? Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 07-14-2016 Sully Wrote:Update and a question (mainly for Lee):Mine is nice and tight (twss) It could be a problem with yours...my bezel spins freely with nice clicks but there is no play or wobble in it. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 07-14-2016 Well shit. Guess I should check if there's a warranty on something free. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 07-14-2016 Check the paperwork it came with I bet there is a mfg warranty on that bad boy Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 07-14-2016 I get it being defective as I've read some others having a similar issue when it first came out. I don't get why it would happen all of a sudden with no use. Looks like we have xfinity performance Internet which is good for 25mbps. Doesn't seem too high Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Senor_Taylor - 07-17-2016 Sully Wrote:Also, finally got my hands on the cable bill. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 07-19-2016 So I WFH now full time. I have 2 - 27in monitors, and they take up a chunk of desk real estate. Recommendations on a dual articulating monitor mount that clamps to the edge of the desk? I am also open to other recommendations. Something like this? https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adj ... 7897508011 But are they that cheap? $35 seems like I will walk into the office one morning and both of my monitors will be on the floor. |
