WRXtranceformed Wrote:Yeah you can't go wrong at that price. Honestly though I would hold out for a deal on the Takedown, I think I ended up getting mine for like $200. At least you can justify it as a bug out bag purchase if you don't end up shooting it a lot. I do love the rifle though it's really fun to shoot and you can bring it into most pistol ranges due to the caliber

Holy crap this thing looks fake. (I know there are other types.)

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 04-26-2015

I'd have preferred the takedown, but I've never seen them anywhere close to this price. If I ever see one at $200, it will be an instabuy.

Also... got it. I could Google and will, but can't at the moment... but the stock mag is a 10-rounder. They sell a 25 rounder and a 2x25, but they are massive. Like more like 10x and 20x the size of the 10-round. What gives? Technical reason, I'm sure, but hopefully I can find some higher priced/fancier one that overcomes that limitation.

Mike Wrote:They sell a 25 rounder and a 2x25, but they are massive. Like more like 10x and 20x the size of the 10-round. What gives?

Let me 'splain.

The ten round magazine is a rotary mag. It puts each round next to the other in a counterclockwise rotation. This is a pretty efficient use of space, but is obviously limited by the size of the magazine well, since that ultimately determines the width of the magazine. You can probably put together how it works from this clear one:

So to get more than 10 rounds, instead of putting the cartridges next to each other in a circle, it simply stacks one on top of the other in a more conventional manner. That way you can get as many as you like, within the bounds of materials science.

Compare:

There are things I dont' like about the 10/22 but none of them are really significant enough for me not to have two. One bull barreled 20", and one 16.5 lightweight threaded barrel as a suppressor host. I think the takedown is dumb, though.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 04-27-2015

Thanks for the pics. I had concluded it must have been something like that... Now to find some ammo... Shit has gone WAY up since I last owned a 22.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 04-27-2015

Think I'm gonna go with a 3-pack of the rotary mags because better tech is better and also pick up the trimag (http://www.calegalmags.com/Ruger-1022-T ... p_734.html). The double stack above is nice, but I detest clear mags for purely aesthetic reasons and don't like the length of the stackers.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 04-27-2015

Also picked up a weaver mount, rings, and cheapo simmons 3-9x40. Once I find some ammo, I'll be ready to go! Wooooo toy gun!

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 04-27-2015

Nice! That's basically the same scope setup I have. I picked up two of the Ruger 25 rd banana mags and they work fine...took a few cycles for them to break in for some reason but they are a lot more fun than the 10 rounders for rapid fire hooligans

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 04-27-2015

3-9? Good lord, guys. WTF for?

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 04-27-2015

Seems to be the standard recommendation. I couldn't find many hits for anything else, and definitely not much for anything shorter.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 04-27-2015

i'm sure that's fine optics, but... fixed and 4x the price (nearly the cost of the gun).

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 04-27-2015

Ah yea I went with a cheap scope because cheap. It was maybe less than $40. If I would building a long range .308 or something that's a different story. With this gun I just want to be able to see what I'm shooting at like 50 yds

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 04-27-2015

Buy once cry once. If you dont' spend as much on glass as on the stick, you're probably doing it wrong. (Yes, even with a deucedeuce)

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 04-27-2015

Ehh I'm gonna respectfully disagree. I get buying nice optics for certain platforms is important. The optic on my AR is basically the best you can buy in its class but it's not even half the cost of the rifle itself. If you're just gonna shoot tin cans and squirrels do you really need a high dollar optic? Mine is good enough to see a paper target which is pretty much all I'm shooting.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 05-01-2015

Need some dust caps for the exposed mags and a case and she's done. Then I guess I'll try to find some ammo. [Image: 8808763191820eb6cb902df54cb42d61.jpg]

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Ryan T - 05-01-2015

ammoseek.com is what I use for a lot of ammo purchases. Oddly enough though, I've been able to find 7.62x39 for my SKS cheaper at wal-mart than anywhere online after you pay shipping.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Ryan T - 05-01-2015

Picked up a Glock 43 last week for a good price from a local police supply store. I sold my PF9 the same morning I picked up the G43 as it will be one of my main carry pieces along with my G27. Initial impressions are I really like it. Feels much thinner in the hand and in the holster than my G27 does. I can carry the G43 in my pocket pretty comfortably but there is no way I could carry the G27 in my pocket. Magazines are 6+1. One mag comes with a grip extension but doesn't add any extra rounds to the mag. I don't care for the pinky extension so I just use the flush mag and throw the pinky mag in my pocket. Couple pictures, one that has my G22 for size comparison. I didn't include my G19 because it stays by the bed and the wife is already asleep.

Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Apoc - 05-05-2015

So, this happened. I have no real intent to carry daily; this was more about being armed without being obvious while out in the wilderness, camping, etc. Also, I wanted to just because I could.

[Image: 11236158_10152722579631744_4828648456160...e=55C10C6A]

I picked up one of these for romps in the woods. I didn't like the idea of open carry, but wanted something that was accessible without having to take a backpack off. I also like to carry things like GPS, so this was a nice way to have things at hand. This, paired with my Osprey hydration pack, should make a nice combo for traipsing around.

co-worker sent me this, odds are everyone here knew about it already, but I for one think this can only lead to hilarious drunk redneck videos and maybe a Darwin award winner.

I've been waiting almost 3 years for an x-can upper.

Still waiting.
