Plus, if he goes anywhere, I would bet it's back to New Jersey. IRT the Caps trading Semin/Fehr, I don't really see it happening. Maybe they package Fehr along with some other things for an impact Dman at the deadline, but I think the chances they trade Semin are slim to none. They just signed him for another year, and really the only way I can see them getting rid of him is in a trade for Kovalchuk which, while being thrown around in rumors, I don't see happening. Plus, they're playing SO well right now why tinker with chemistry (not to mention Kovy is a UFA after the season). I think come trade deadline the Caps are most likely to add an impact Dman or/and a forward along the lines of a Jeff Halpern, Ray Whitney, etc (similar to the Fedorov trade a few years ago). Maybe a goalie if Varlamov continues to be plagued by injuries. Re: How bout them Caps? - damnit458 - 01-26-2010 Case in point: Caps win 7-2 tonight and Ovechkin doesn't record a point. One more stat for you: The caps goal differential is now +57. The next highest team in the eastern conference is +28. Absolutely ridiculous. On a more somber note, did anybody see Hillen take that Ovechkin one timer to the face tonight? That looked absolutely horrible. Re: How bout them Caps? - Maengelito - 01-27-2010 Didnt see it, but heard about it. I've seen so many people take slap shots to the face and it never gets less gruesome to me. I know a lot of pro hockey players dont like wearing face shields/visors but maybe if you wore them, you wouldn't be missing teeth. And I seriously doubt they'd trade away Semin too. As you said, they just renewed his contract, their line chemistry is perfect right now and they're firing on all cylinders. I really hope they pick up a solid Dman at the deadline like Dan Hamhuis or Tomas Kaberle and not some old balls guy like Adam Foote (and yes, I realize Kaberle is also pretty old but I think he's a lot better than Foote). I also hope they don't pick up Halpern or Whitney. I'm pretty worried about Varly though, since he hasn't really skated much in over a month and they keep being vague about how bad his knee/groin injuries are. While I like Neuvirth, I don't see him being able to carry the team through the playoffs and Jose Three-or-more is just too inconsistent to be relied on as well. Maybe its just the Caps fan in me, but I get most pessimistic when they're doing really well. I expect there to be a flurry of activity after the Olympics so we'll see how things go... I think they are keeping Varly out for the time being, specifically for the Olympics. I think he'll be back. I worry that he's going to be injury plagued, but he's also young, and time will tell. Re: How bout them Caps? - mrbaggio - 01-27-2010 Is anyone looking to go to the game this friday? I have tickets to the game, but there was a death in the family so I have to leave town and can't use them. Re: How bout them Caps? - CaptainHenreh - 01-27-2010 How A-BOUT them caps, eh? Best part of tonight's game? My boy Bradley kind of winning a fight! Re: How bout them Caps? - damnit458 - 01-27-2010 CaptainHenreh Wrote:How A-BOUT them caps, eh? Any fight that Bradley comes out of not bleeding is a clear win in my book  This team is just SO much fun to watch right now. Giguere was absolutely filthy tonight and even that couldn't hold the Caps under five goals. Re: How bout them Caps? - Evan - 01-28-2010 Watching the game....its deadlocked 1-1 with the Ducks playing pretty good. I go upstairs for a few minutes, come back down and its 4-1. Caps are crazy. Re: How bout them Caps? - Maengelito - 01-28-2010 Semin's one-timer knocking the water bottle off was amazing. I just hope that their goalie injury situation isnt as bad as I think it is. Re: How bout them Caps? - l33t Mr2 - 01-31-2010 Is semin a good two way player? Ray Shero is going to have to do some serious smart trading at the deadline if the pens want to keep up with the caps. The only team I could see the capitals having troubles with in the east is NJ. They are the only team that could keep the offensive talent that Washington has in check. Having Green and Ovechkin on a power play unit is brutal. Imagine if you got Dion Pheanuf?? Although the cap space would be difficult to work with having only 2,000,000 and Dion P wants like 6.5 mil. With the way they are playing now it seems like they don't really need to trade. You guys don't need Ray Whitney when you are scoring 30 goals a game. Re: How bout them Caps? - Maengelito - 02-03-2010 11 in a row, not too shabby! The Rangers are coming up, can we make it 12? Re: How bout them Caps? - Evan - 02-03-2010 lets go for 18. the more ways we can beat the penguins the better Re: How bout them Caps? - Maengelito - 02-03-2010 what happens if you check Alex Ovechkin? http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2010/02/what_happens_if_you_check_alex.html http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlg=20092010,2,827&event=BOS436 Re: How bout them Caps? - Evan - 02-04-2010 fun game to watch against the Rangers. Defense was ehhh to let in 5 goals by a mediocre offensive team. AOs goal at the end of the 2nd was pretty nifty. I saw a green laser on Theo on his closeups, that shit has to stop. Kovulchuk to Devils sucks..... at least the Caps didnt trade a bunch of guys for him. They interviewed McPhee at halftime and he pretty much said that he isnt going to trade away young and future talent for the present which is good to hear. Re: How bout them Caps? - CaptainHenreh - 02-07-2010 Verizon Center has got to be 1 thrown beer away from a riot! Re: How bout them Caps? - CaptainHenreh - 02-07-2010 HELLS YEAH |
