JohnC Wrote:Very nice - is that an M&P9c?

Yes. It was a bit of a no-brainer with the adjustable grips. Large sights, good size for julie's small hands with the "small" grip and comfortable for me with the "large" grip. Plus, reasonably priced and a 50 dollar or 2-free-magazines rebate.

I'm still not sold on striker fired poly pistols. My CZ is old school hammer-operated double action, and I like it that way. But who am I to stand in the way of technology?

Hooray more guns for all!! 8)

Taken care of after a visit to the Salem gun show yesterday. Tongue
Gave up on the nickel finish, no-one sells them. After playing with a lot of Mossbergs and Dalys, I got a Remmington 870 because the action and moving parts just seemed more... awesome? Finish and fit seemed better too. And I thought it was a good deal, came with an extra 20in barrel with rifle sights. Looks exactly like this now (though that looks like a metal stock, mine's a plastic ATI):

Fired some slugs and #2 through it today and laughed after every shot. It is perfect, and absolutely excessive. And I need more practice with slugs.

HAULN-SS Wrote:So is that scope actually good, and useful? Generally a rifle is only as good as it's optics, right?

The scope is very good. From what I have read the lenses are German Zeiss lenses (the same name that is on Sony cameras I think)

YAY FOR MORE MM GUNS!!!

My Mossberg 590 is "stainless." They call it marinecoat or something like that...its a "water resistant" coating that looks like stainless.

yup, that's what I was looking for, though in the shorter version. I suppose if I found one for a killer price, I'd sell mine and get it, but it's not likely. Want to trade?

nice shot gun Channing! i like Julie's 9mm too.

I'm hoping to take a class or something to help me learn how to operate my recently obtained 9mm - i just learned how to field-assemble it.

Step 1: Pistol whip the people who keep stealing your shit.

Because those zombies aren't going to kill themselves!

(actually, it's not *quite* done. I need a .270 inch locking shoulder and a new bolt latch. But it's mostly done. 96%)

- balactm - 01-13-2009

wtf why didn't you guys tell me there was such thing as an AK shotgun?! :? I just saw a couple of these at a store right up the street yesterday. Saiga. Looks like an AK, but it's a shotgun. It's like, the perfect gun. And they're cheap!

Dammit! Who wants to buy my 12ga?

- CaptainHenreh - 01-16-2009

Made in Russia, too.

A guy I work with has one, has a big boner for it. They're a *little* bit different from an AK (nonstandard trigger parts, not really a big deal) and while they are pretty cheap as such things go, they're really only good for one thing. They're very heavy especially when loaded, and as auto shotguns go, the only thing really going for them is the detachable mag, which has it's pros and cons.

- Sijray21 - 01-17-2009

I have a question for you all.

is there a way to tell if a bullet is 'bad'?

I went to the range today for the first time (awesome btw, shot a .22, 9mm and .45) and unfortunately there was a problem with my S&W. My buddy who took a look at it said something about the bullet not fitting properly in the chamber to not allow the slide to retract fully. I gave it to the Gunsmith at Blue Ridge Arsenal to look at, but that had me thinking about the ammunition. There are 4 mags with the gun and two of the mags were full. I emptied them, but some of the bullets (particularly the top one) has the brass pretty faded. The gun and the ammo haven't been fired in almost 25 years. I cleaned the gun and one of the mags thoroughly just after Christmas. Would this ammo be alright to fire?

Here's a picture example:

- CaptainHenreh - 01-17-2009

Throw that ammo away and stop going to Blue Ridge.

- CaptainHenreh - 01-17-2009

Also, NEW TOYS!

This is my last purchase for a while. I've got everything I can think of (while they're still legal, lololol) and this was the last thing on my "practical list":

Browning Buckmark. .22LR Auto Pistol
