It will.

- HAULN-SS - 03-26-2008

I tried to install my version of '03 on vista, and ended up having to buy 07 because it wouldnt even install, much less run. Have you actually tried it?

My wife installed it on her new Vista laptop last week.

Did you get all the Windows updates? What service pack of Office '03 was it?

- HAULN-SS - 03-26-2008

I did do any updates on anything, and this was an office 03 disc from like..2004, not sure of the service packs on either. I just said fuck it and got office 2007 through work for like 20$..installed fine.

- Ginger - 03-26-2008

+1 on the '03 install. Is currently working without any problems on my Vista laptop.

It's hardly fair to attempt to install something burned to media a half a decade ago, without patches or updates to either the operating system or the application, and write it off as non-functioning because it wasn't plug & play.

The only "designed for XP" app I've had a problem with under Vista was Nero. And I didn't try and figure out what the problem was.

This is a little funny:

Hah.. I just read about that. Ok. Ok. I concede. Windows is better.

Wow.

Firefox has the same bug.

You guys did a really shitty job of talking me out of buying a mac... I'm writing this from a new macbook.

Assholes.

- Mike - 04-07-2008

good. congrats!

- Hunter - 04-07-2008

Thanks, it's the 2.4 GHz Macbook with 4 gigs of ram and it's ridiculous fast.

PS. Why does apple charge $400 for the 4 gig upgrade when I can just buy the memory for $70 on my own. Is it some kind of stupidity test?

- Mike - 04-07-2008

yes.

I just got the exact same thing, 2.4ghz Penryn and slapped in 4GB myself. Also had a bunch of money to blow on stuff at Dell so got an $80 bluetooth mouse. (bawlin'?) Still have like $210 to spend there so will probably pick up a bluetooth mouse and keyboard to hook up to my Mac Mini and make it an HTPC. Just installed iWork '08, Final Cut Studio 2, Parallels with WinXP SP2, and Toast. Which is good because the fan on my HSF just died on my PC and I have to reset the CMOS every time I want it to boot, damn thing runs just fine at 37C without the fan anyway.

BACK IN MY DAY I PAID $400 FOR A 4MB RAM UPGRADE ON MY G3 7200/90 AND I LIKED IT DAMMIT. SERIOUSLY.

Bitch please, I installed a 32MB upgrade on my Performa 637CD in 6th grade for less than that. The 7200/90 was a 601, way before the G3.
