Sweet, TV is fixed. The guy who fixed it was chill, he stayed and drank a beer with me after he was done. Apparently there is a sensor inside the TV whose wire is attached with some kind of connector. That connector connection corrodes and you get that error, so Mitsubishi has the techs just clip the connectors off and solder the wire together, which is how it should have come from the factory really.

Oh, and I bought some aftermarket component cables at BB that were only like 8 bucks and support 1080p (the XBOX brand is like 40 and doesn't support 1080p????), but they don't display it on my TV. There was a plaque on the back of my TV that I noticed after I was checking it out that clearly states that it will only play up to 1080i with component cables. So, I'm stuck with 1080i since my XBOX doesn't have an HDMI input =( Not that I'm really suffering much ha, it's still an unbelievable picture.

I have no idea what you just said

Shocker.

Maybe you should buy a new Xbox with HDMI.

- WRXtranceformed - 11-14-2007

I should... but is it really worth spending another couple hundred bucks for HDMI? I'd also have to deal with the hassle of selling my old one.

- CaptainHenreh - 11-14-2007

Seriously.

HDMI is pretty. Although really, the satisfaction comes when the gravity hammer comes down, how pretty it is on the way is kind of secondary.

- WRXtranceformed - 11-14-2007

Well said Rex Smile

It's pretty undescribable how fun Halo 3 multiplayer is on 65". Almost as ridiculous as playing it on my boy's 110" HD projector in his theater room Sad

Rex we should hit it up on Live later if you're going to be home. I'm running into town for a few hours, but I'll probably be down to play some H3 ~1.

I had a bit of a breakthrough with a project at work, I'll be home ~3:30-4. But yeah, def. I <3 teh Haloz.

Of course not. I was just trying to goad you into spending money you don't have to. Smile

DO IT SCOTT!!!! =D We need to get some MM Halo 3 teams going.

Btw, I don't know if I'll be on Halo today, I stopped by Best Buy to return the component cables and I discovered that today was the release day for Assassin's Creed. So of course I got that and will be sessioning it all day  I haven't even finished CoD4 yet!!

The guy at the exchange counter convinced me to try the VGA cable again with a PC/DVI adapter. He said it shouldn't degrade the VGA signal at all, it would only cause problems if the incoming signal was DVI. So we'll see how it works out. I picked up the adapter at Radio Shack for like 13 bucks.

The irony was that the VGA cable I bought again was the one I had just returned, so since it was an open box item it was $5 cheaper this time

Rex, send me a message on WRXtranceformed on XBL when you get home though, I might be down for a quick Halo session.

Get a computer the games look better plus you don't have to pay monthly to play online.

actually i'm coming from a background in PC gaming. i'm just sick of not having alot of the fun titles come out for PC (still waiting on Halo 2...) and the fact that all my friends are on consoles....i wanna play too Sad

- mrbaggio - 11-14-2007

I can't ever see myself playing on a console. I don't think you can ever be as fast or precise with a thumb stick as you can with a mouse. Am I wrong or is that a major limit to most console controllers?

Plus there were always plently of games to keep me busy on the PC.

- HAULN-SS - 11-14-2007

It's all relative. I'm pretty effin' good at PC shooters and consoles...but on a console, everyone else is going a lot slower too. It's probably better though, because it's equalized. Everyone's running the same hardware. Connection is the only variable. To play almost any FPS on PC, you have to have cutting edge expensive hardware, or wait a year for prices to come down. Video lag, or shitty looks..take your pick. At least on console, that's eliminated.

I suppose. I don't really care about being a world class gamer tho. So I keep playing on my 3 year old PC and still wreak most public severs

- BLINGMW - 11-14-2007

am I the only one who played Halo 3 and thought, eh, it's pretty much like the original Halo? And that's a good thing, it's fun playing a bunch of people, but I sure don't see the point in upgrading. :dunno:

- WRXtranceformed - 11-14-2007

Was fun playing Halo with you and your boys Rex, let's do it more often.

My first impressions of Assassin's Creed: Rent it first.

Don't take this as regret for purchasing this game at all. I love it so far. But I'm also into the kind of game that focuses on ninja assassination skills and stealth. If you're a stickler for stunning graphics, this isn't the game for you.

The graphics are about a 7 on a 10 scale... I'm a little jaded from having played CoD4 for the past few days. It's noticeably worse though; lots of clipping, an overall haziness used to hide imperfections and lack of clarity at graphic thresholds, REALLY bad shadows... especially on the cinematics. Like, you can literally see squares where there should be smooth lines. Fingers coming through fabric where they shouldn't, etc.

Gameplay is good so far though, good progression of skills, global choice of attack routes. If I had to give it a preliminary grade, I'd give it a B.

i call halo a "frat boy game." it really isn't anything special, but every ignorant wannabe gamer (lol) thinks it's the second coming. people in the know think it's a good game, but certainly not groundbreaking. i only play it because i have such friends... i really wish they'd be interested in the good games i play, but there is usually too steep a learning curve.

- HAULN-SS - 11-15-2007

+1

I felt the same way when my roommate at JMU went out and stood in line to get Halo2. It was almost the exact same game. Not worth upgrading, if you ask me.
