Dave gets slack from me in this matter right now. Much as I wanna see this car on the open road, everything in its time.

Re: Project: track 240z - Dave - 08-01-2016

I got a weird itch to get on MM today for the first time in a couple years (at least). I didn't look to see where I left off, but I suspect it had something to do with continuing doing paint prep work. I eventually decided "Fuck it, I'm not painting this car." Took it to a painter working out of his house and he did a great job for a great price, picking up where I left off. I'm so much happier to have that behind me (fuck body work). Here's how the car sits today:
In other events:
-2 kids and trying out different hobbies = not really leaving a lot of time to tinker here. Haven't had much drive to spend my time on it. Maybe I'll do something with it this year.
-The headlight covers I bought years ago are a no-go. Despite their packaging saying they should match, there isn't a chance in hell of them mating up to the sugar scoop nacelles for the headlight. I haz a sad, because I really like the look of them. I'll sell these to some poor shmuck, and buy some new ones later (or fab some custom aero bits).
-I've moved the car in a non-running state three times now. In the most recent one, it was only a couple miles and I had to use a tow dolly. Pretty sure I fucked up my rear extended lug studs in the process because the wheels weren't completely tight (long story, my own damn fault). I hope I can bring it back to life again before my next move.
-Rear drum brakes are converted to calipers, but I can't fit the wheels over them so both times I moved the car I had to take the calipers off. Need to get my shit together in this area...
-All of the fuel piping is freshly bent and installed. All I need is to connect it up to the engine. Of course, as soon as I have eliminated all the must-do improvements, now I want to upgrade it to full stainless braid...

If you have questions, I might have answers if my old ass can remember. Ask nicely and I've probably got pictures Smile. Maybe I'll even read them later this decade when I revisit.

Oh yeah, get off my lawn.

<3 keep on keep'n on

Re: Project: track 240z - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-02-2016

Glad to see you update this a bit. I don't blame you at all, the one thing I dont want to touch is bodywork. It drives me insane.

Re: Project: track 240z - Senor_Taylor - 08-02-2016

Being an adult must suck. It would drive me crazy to have a project go on this long. Looks great! That's a big step forward!

Re: Project: track 240z - Mike - 08-02-2016

how fast does it go?

Re: Project: track 240z - Goodspeed - 08-02-2016

 Is that baltic blue?

Re: Project: track 240z - ScottyB - 08-02-2016

he's back!

that color is Tits McGee my friend. i think a set of bronze panasports would melt some faces for sure.

glad to hear its still coming along, even if its slow. i have enough trouble just putting basic maintenance stuff together on my economy car, i can't imagine building something from the ground up with 2 kids. keep bein awesome.

did you ever settle on an engine choice for this thing? please tell me you're keeping the L series...they sound some kind of amazing and i'm sure with a decent carb setup it would be plenty fast and reliable.

Is this Dave, as in Dave with the blue STI Dave, Dave or another Dave?

If this is the Dave I'm thinking of, holy smokes even though you think you probably won't get this updated again soon man oh man do I hope you keep going with some updates. Love these cars.

I'm so excited I forgot how to form sentences, geez...
