For non car people I see why you would get sucked into buying that model. Wow, yeah the HUD is something I could do without in our CX-5 even though it's kind of cool. Ventilated seats would be nice though, it's swamp ass weather down here most of the year. That's a huge bummer to hear about the new TL-S because the 3G TL-S I had was an AMAZING car. The second best I've ever owned next to the Jag and one of the few I regret selling. I remember having it in for a service appointment right when the 4Gs first dropped. The sales guy in the showroom was trying to convince me that the new one was better than mine and looking at that thing I was like no chance. That thing handled and braked incredibly and was quicker in real life than it was on paper, especially after a few exhaust mods. I would pull slightly on my buddy's old stock twin turbo 335i RE: Project Townhouse: 1st Time Buyers - Senor_Taylor - 12-10-2018 (12-10-2018, 02:17 PM)JPolen01 Wrote: I drove Touring model and the extra $5k for the HUD, ventilated seats, charging pad, and active dampers was not worth it. Either way, I don't think bumping to the top trim for $5000 is that bad of a deal. It's not a bad buy at all, but if you compared them on paper you would see it doesn't make much sense unless you absolutely had to have those items. I drove a touring just to get a feel for the 2.0 vs the 1.5 and didn't even notice the active suspension. I think it only engages above 50mph from what I've read. I will join on blaming Matt - he told me to buy the Touring too. Any idea what your friend paid? RE: Project Townhouse: 1st Time Buyers - .RJ - 12-10-2018 Curious on your thoughts on the accord, they offer the 2.0t with a 3rd pedal... I think it would be a riot with the 2.0 and manual combo. This motor has a ton of torque low end which is quite unusual for Honda as you know. Go drive one. You can find a dealer with the manual pretty easily. They seem to be making a fair amount of them. That's the benefit. exactly this. you're not preventing theft, just buying yourself time. if somebody wants those wheels, they'll be gone before too long. i guess if you wanted to give 1 extra finger to any thieves, use 2 different sets of wheel locks to buy you double the time. I am just happy she doesn't have to be pregnant in the late summer MD humidity. Project Townhouse: 1st Time Buyers - JPolen01 - 12-30-2018 Keeping with the various themes of this thread, figured I'd give a few updates. 700ish miles on the car and it's been fantastic. I joined an Accord forum mostly to lurk and the complaints there are hilarious. Sounds like the 2018s had teething issues which are to be expected on a first gen car. Mine has been great and I really enjoy driving it. No updates on the house. Found out the baby is a boy so naturally I am pumped about that. He'll grow up with a cousin only 11 months older that lives around the corner. Nothing beats causing chaos at family events with a cousin! RE: Project Townhouse: 1st Time Buyers - WRXtranceformed - 12-30-2018 I keep seeing the '18 Accords around and they have piqued my interest. I wouldn't be opposed to snagging one, in fact I was looking at the older gen ones back before I bought my TL-S. Congrats on the little boy!! Might be a while, at 20 months old now he is still scared of the jerky acceleration. Made progress yesterday, he actually sat in it. He does at least understand the steering wheel and concept of left and right on his pedal car. RE: Project Townhouse: 1st Time Buyers - Goodspeed - 12-30-2018 Congrats Polen on the incoming kiddo! And holy crap, I need to check FB more - congrats Justin & Casey on #2 inbound! Get him a glide bike at ~24-30 months. Becca got hers for her second birthday and mastered balancing on it at around 30 months. Going 5mph will seem tame to him after he bombs his first hill doing 15 or so. Pay the extra $ for a Strider - they are lighter and much better built than the Chinesium alternatives.
