You do realize its the NA motor not the supercharged motor...right?

GM is KILLING it. The new corvette is only hampered by the z06 having a supercharged motor. The new diff, the architecture and suspension is out of this world for a sub-100k car.

I told someone this morning, if I had the money, an all brand new GM Lineup wouldn't be such a bad garage. Brand new GM 3500HD, ATS-V, and Corvette GS for weekends. Never would have thought I would be able to have a garage of all domestic manufacturer.

Porsche GT4, GT350R, 1LE package camaro, corvette GS........What a day to be alive where sub-100k cars are THAT good.

Re: Automotive News Discussion - WRXtranceformed - 03-01-2016

 Don't get me wrong, I almost bought a Z06 a few years ago. I do recall reading about owners having issues even with the NA V8s from the factory, although not nearly as much as the blown V8s. That and the build quality issues I had with the cars at the time scared me away.

Yeah it wasn't just the NA V8s:

There is a long issue with those. LS7 issues (C6 z06 for those who dont know) were because of bad casting of the head. They didn't quite get the valve guides straight so it wears. GM used the "wobble test" (yes actual instructions from GM to techs), and then redacted. Open issue, and VERY expensive if you let it get that far. Most conscious owners just fix when they buy the car for less than $1k.

The LT1 (base C7 motor) is another issue altogether, but was blown out of proportion. But none other than the Z06 was overheating really an issue.

Funny you are worried about those issues, but Jaguars and Astons peak your interest.

Where did you find a sub $100k GT4? <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.autoblog.com/used-list/year-2016-2016/make1-Porsche/model1-Cayman/trim-GT4">http://www.autoblog.com/used-list/year- ... n/trim-GT4</a><!-- m -->

Right? Ha. Believe it or not the jag was one of the most reliable performance vehicles I've owned! Aside from a maf sensor going bad, the ediff issue was a known tsb and taken care of no questions asked. Water pumps are the only other weak spot also covered under tsb iirc but mine never had an issue.

Wow that's interesting. I can't get the pictures to load. It's priced a good $20-$30k lower than the others on Autoblog I posted with lower miles. When are you buying it?

I think the demand is starting to flatten out and it'll be far easier to find a dealership selling at MSRP. Time for that Sapphire Blue GT4 y'all.

i love the attitude he builds into the car, i love the cinematography, but i can only watch a car do a bunch of donuts while the engine's like BRAAAP-RAP-RAP-RAP-RAP-RAP in 1st gear for so long. i thought the first couple were really cool because they were each pretty raw, and different with the stunts but now its just [new location + apply formula] = views

Man you old, grumpy, people.

I love it. Just ripping off the rev limiter doing donuts with 650hp. Beating supercars off the line. 0-60 1.8s..... Just burning tires almost constantly. Loud noises and pops. What's not to like? Are you a car person? :dunno:

I thought I was the only one! I probably won't even watch this one. The original couple were cool and the one with the Hoonicorn. But then they just got boring.

 "old"? i guess. like i said i loved the first couple. the original is still one of my favorite videos ever.

i've just probably seen a lot more of it than you and it just feels a bit more like a big commercial the billionth time. and beating supercars? easily, but it would be cool if the race wasn't staged and driven by guys with zero reaction time. i mean come on, that was horrible.

i prefer this stuff these days....all the loud noises and pops, burning tires, and 650hp without the bullshit. its just for car people though, so you've been warned

Re: Automotive News Discussion - rherold9 - 03-01-2016

I mean that's similar enough. That's cool too.

The new stuff is the same as the old stuff just new. It's like comparing what people in their late 20s and early 30s grew up on compared to what this generation has grown up on. It's the same but different. Whatever.

Just let the young people enjoy it and accept it. Just say "young people these days, I don't get them. Back in my day...." As usual

But it's not that at all. It's not new and edgy like the first 1 or 2 videos. It's the same dude, making the same video, in a different setting, with a slightly different car. :dunno:

Re: Automotive News Discussion - rherold9 - 03-01-2016

I mean what else can he do? He rents out freaking Dubai to film the video doing just donuts around changing objects every vid. There is some off-road and some other things. I don't get what y'all are expecting.

didn't you own that car for like 2 or 2.5 years? I don't know if I ever saw a figure, but in my mind you only put like 3-4k miles a year on it. Although for a British car, I can see how that would be a lot.

I had it for little over 2 years and put about 13k miles on it. It saw commuter duty for a while and some healthy back road romping. My experience seems mostly consistent with people driving more than me, stock and modded. The pre 2009 XFs had issues but 2010+ have been pretty rock solid believe it or not! You're right, most people don't put tons of miles on those but there a re a few around 100k miles still running strong.
