Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Jewels - 07-10-2014 davej Wrote:I'd be in if someone has something they can spare. (Besides, a second set of prints on a gun is always good, right??) I'm in at Flying rabbit. I prefer Trap and Skeet (aw yeah) but would be willing to shoot a round of wobble trap or sporting clays. Rex and Kaan taught an AR-15 class in NOVA for a couple of years. I am currently looking into getting my NRA certification, as there's a greater need for female instructors over males. A range day can only safely be a certain number. I taught a class of about 15 females ranging from no knowlege to some cursory knowledge. That was about as big as a group that I'd like to teach at 1 time. That being said, I suppose you want Rex's opinion since he's who you want to teach, but we'd probably both be available if you wanted 2 instructors. Also, not sure how Top Gun would feel about a range day with real life instruction going on. And as far as I know, Hite Hollow is closed, and I'm not going up to the Brandywine Range cause its a shit hole. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Sully - 07-10-2014 I wasn't trying to exclude you Julie! Two instructors is good with me! Yea the big range day would be good, but I would probably want to do at least one day with a very small group. I'm not completely new to guns but have not fired a handgun and the last time I did shotguns was a while ago Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - JustinG - 07-10-2014 If you are in RVA and wanna hit up the range let me know. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - ispoonwithmugen - 07-10-2014 Definitely in for a range day. Just finished the online course for my concealed and turning in the paperwork hopefully tomorrow. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 07-12-2014 Anyone seen the new Transformers movie? Pretty much the only good part were the guns the CIA agents were using. Supplied by Salient Arms Intl. Golden barrels...sweet! Their website isn't up yet but you can see a lot of their stuff on Facebook. Their Glock converstions are frickin expensive...$2k+ which seems kind of dumb. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And their model Zienna Sonne isn't hard on the eyes either: ![]() ![]()
Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Apoc - 07-12-2014 Everything in that post is too blingy for me. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 07-12-2014 Salient is a collosal rip off. I wish I'd thought of it. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - premiershine9 - 07-13-2014 In for a range day! Picked up a new Beretta A300 outlander semi-atuo (.12) and in the last few weekends have put around 500 rounds through it- loing it so far! Anybody in for some trap/ skeet? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 07-18-2014 Anyone looking for a nice AR, CDNN has Colt Competition CSR1516's blowing out the door for 699. It's a pretty good deal if you're a brand whore. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Evan - 07-28-2014 Can legally carry in DC (for now). Never thought Id see the day. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.politico.com/story/2014/07/dc-gun-provision-struck-down-109414.html">http://www.politico.com/story/2014/07/d ... 09414.html</a><!-- m --> <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-attorney-general-plans-to-seek-stay-of-ruling-overturning-districts-handgun-ban/2014/07/27/00d9e9d0-15c5-11e4-9349-84d4a85be981_story.html">http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc- ... story.html</a><!-- m -->
Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 07-29-2014 Had a "home invasion" last night, fortunately I didn't have to use any of my weapons since it was localized to the garage and they must have been in and out in a minute or two. Garage door was wide open this morning, it looks like they stole the hidden garage door opener out of my wife's car. I did some research and zip-tied the emergency release latch so that it can't be "hooked" (apparently this is becoming more common now, you can open up a garage door from the outside with a looped coat hanger). Also apparently there are guys going around with code readers which I am not sure how to protect against but I reset all of our codes anyway. I lock my car all the time but apparently the one night I don't they got into it...all they seem to have taken were 3 empty CD cases and two empty sunglasses cases. Tried to yank the radar detector but couldn't figure out how to unplug the hardwire so left it hanging there. Left two sets of golf clubs, tools, etc. They did get a cheap pair of sunglasses and a garmin from my wife's car. Makes me nervous because I am about to leave all week for a business trip but my wife is trained and armed so she should be fine. Not fun to deal with! Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - G.Irish - 07-29-2014 Fuuuuckkk man, glad they didn't take too much of value. That's certainly a scary situation to deal with. Do you have a security system in your house? Time to start driving a Kia! Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - davej - 07-29-2014 dang man, glad there wasn't an encounter but that's still freaky. got a camera system by any chance? was your wife's car open and that's how the got the opener/into the garage? think it was kids looking for some cash or something since they left tools/clubs other valuables? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Kaan - 07-29-2014 glad you are okay and they didnt really take anything that cant be replaced... time for big mean dog alarm. hell even a little yappy dog would alert you to people in the garage. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 07-29-2014 We do have a security system but it is not hooked up, just have never gotten around to it because this is a super safe area. That is going to change after this. Interestingly, the cop told us that most people with alarm systems don't have garage door sensors anyway, which are optional. I would obviously opt for that after all of this. I have a feeling since no "big" stuff was taken and they didn't try to get in the house that it wasn't a "pull up the truck" kind of operation, it was probably just someone looking for some quick cash. They do have one of our garage door openers now though but we should be in good shape now that the codes are reset. There are signs on her car that it was jimmied / a wire was used to unlock it so it was definitely someone who knew what they were doing. The cop told me something else interesting; thieves now are going around to parking lots / garages at places of work, breaking in and stealing garage door openers and the registration, and then driving over to the house to rob it while you are at work. So if any of you have the garage door fobs I would recommend not keeping those around, or keep them really really well hidden or locked up if you have to use them. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Kaan - 07-29-2014 registration is in my pocket you know... so i can have two forms of ID to purchase a firearm when i want.
