RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Jake - 09-30-2020

I thought Biden did fine, all things considered. I am still looking forward to giving him, his VP, his cabinet, etc my vote.

Next week is the VP debate and I expect Kamala Harris to mop the floor with Pence.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Senor_Taylor - 09-30-2020

Yeah Biden didn't really have a trainwreck on his hands and he was able to keep his cool (relatively) and didn't get steamrolled by the ultimate steamroller. I'm surprised and a bit relieved. Biden just needs to not play the game and prove that he's mentally stable and that will make my vote a lot less of a concession/defeat trump vote.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - ScottyB - 09-30-2020

i didn't watch it live last night, but the few clips i watched so far today have made me want to anxiety-eat my way through a presidential hamberder feast.

i have a feeling if Trump spent less time golfing every 3 days he'd have been better prepared on how to speak like an adult in a debate.

Biden was not impressive to me, but better than Trump.  actually that sums up my entire feeling for him in general.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Senor_Taylor - 09-30-2020

Conspiracy: Biden got Trump elected so that he could win a election for President

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - CaptainHenreh - 09-30-2020

Biden, from what I can tell, not having any "Ya stupid dog faced pony bastard" moments was a good thing for him. He kept his temper and did what he's done this whole campaign, not interrupt Trump when he was hurting himself.

But as a spectacle I'd rather gargle razor blades, so I was playing DnD while it was going on.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Apoc - 09-30-2020

All Biden had to do was not lose. That happened pretty easily. Because Trump.

Someone asked me if I was going to watch for the drama of it all. I said I'd rather watch an episode of the Bachelorette while being kicked in the nuts non-stop.

"But it's entertaining" they said. "It's a presidential debate," I said.

We watched reruns of Law & Order because Lenny Briscoe is the man.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - .RJ - 09-30-2020

I didnt watch. I'm glad I didnt.

I watched 20 minutes then booted up Flight Sim 2020 for the first time. Good game.

Was any supporter of either of those guys impressed by their performance? Are you more or less glad you're voting for one of them or did anything change your mind?

I mean I am conservative and I personally think trump didn't do so hot. He interrupted and brought up Hunter Biden. I don't think family should have anything to do with the debates. I think Biden did well with talking to the audience and not to Trump or Wallace. To be fair Biden interrupted Trump, but not as much.

Sent this to my Philly friends this morning.

Trump looked unhinged and chaotic, but it was what I expected to some extent. I thought he would at least let Biden talk a few times. Wallace asked tough questions but could not control Trump and even pandered to him a few times with "Mr President, you'll really like this question".

I think the best thing Biden did was expose Trump's utter disdain for anyone but himself. He was able to hammer Trump on his Covid response and really got him going about his family. When Trump stated how much money his family lost coming into government, Biden did a great job of speaking to the camera about how Trump only cares about himself and his family's money.
Biden did alright, of course you had a bunch of Trump supporters thinking he wouldn't be able to speak, but he did alright for what he said.

I don't think Wallace really was in favor of either of them, maybe even a lean towards Biden. He was agreeing with Biden most of the time about trump being unruly with his interrupting and responses.

I personally think Biden's strongest point was that he talked to the camera throughout the speech. Trump on the other hand did not show me he was a strong candidate (but honestly they're both awful). I'm waiting for Gaetz to be a candidate.

Now something I just want to say here is that yes, Biden did do a good job actually speaking throughout the whole time, but the Biden team 1) asked to have a break every 30 minutes, and 2) first agreed to having ears checked for electronic devices. The Trump side agreed, then the Biden team pulled out of the agreement. IDC if he did use one, but that's sus that they pulled out ya know?

I wouldn't be too sure about mopping the floor, she advocated against Biden many times saying she would support anyone who thinks Biden is a sexual predator. Also just look at what Tulsi Gabbard said against her. I haven't looked too far into what Pence is like in a debate (mostly because there aren't many times that happened). I don't think Pence is as hot headed as Trump, but we'll see how he handles the pressure in a 1on1.

Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - JPolen01 - 09-30-2020

Do you have a source for Biden's team agreeing to the earpiece check and backing out or the request for breaks? All I can find is the Trump campaign as the sole source of these charges which is far from reliable.

As to Jake's point about Kamala, I believe he is more insinuating that with her prosecutorial background she will be a strong debater while Pence is like a wet noodle with the personality of a cyborg.

of the 15 minutes i watched it was a disaster and about what i expected. it will change no one's mind since the trumpets will trumpet.

the damn moderator needs a mute button and the candidates need to be placed in sound isolating booths so they can't hear the other person while they're slated to talk. trump not following the protocols? no way! i'm SHOCKED!!!1!

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Ken - 09-30-2020

I can't find anything outside of obviously right-wing sources (Blaze, Hannity, Fox News, The Sun) for either of those claims of breaks or, agreeing to check for devices.

Well Pence is white, so Harris's prosecutor background might not help her much, and Pence is happily married (even if in a stepford kind of way) so her normal backup plan for advancement won't work either.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Jake - 09-30-2020

Jon got what I was saying.

Also, Pence thinks I should be in a conversion camp so like... fuck him.

This is sarcasm... right?

I dont know how anyone can make a good faith argument against any of Biden's flaws, whether real fabricated or real. I'm not a fan of whataboutism however one of these men WILL be our next President. Nepotism over Hunter Biden? Give me a break. Sexual assault allegations? Yeah, valid concern but there are literally dozens of legitimate allegations against Trump.

Anyone who has actually followed the news on a daily basis knows everything that comes out of Trump's mouth about the ACA and his Covid response is complete stinking bullshit. He's pissed away 4 years in power without delivering the ACA replacement he's been promising (same as all of his other promises), and he fucked off, ignored warnings and lied to us for months before the pandemic hit the US, and then just kept on lying for the rest of the year. A hard two week shutdown at the end of February was all we needed, failing simply that stepping back and recommending people trust the experts rather than encouraging anti-masking and holding undistanced rallies (that literally killed Herman Cain) would've been far less damaging.

Also call me a panicky liberal snowflake all you want but encouraging his "proud boys" to "watch" the polls is fucking concerning.
