Good Eats - JPolen01 - 03-18-2019 I was looking for the travel thread (don't we have one of those?) and stumbled upon this thread again. Decided to grace you all with my yearly visit to Thames Street Oyster House in Baltimore. I'm going to make the bold claim that this place makes the best (hot) lobster roll on the east coast. I've eaten them in Cape Cod, this is better. It's been a few years, but they won the Lobster Rumble in NYC in 2014 beating out the northeast big dogs. The lobster is cooked a tad underdone and then brought to temp with butter. I think this is why it is so damn good.
RE: Good Eats - V1GiLaNtE - 03-18-2019 *faps furiously Good god I'm starving right now. RE: Good Eats - Sijray21 - 03-18-2019 :putsonflamesuit: I've tried lobster a bunch and i simply don't like lobster; i'd much rather have crab. I've had crab the same way though. It was the wife's birthday Friday so we went all out. The lobster roll was Friday. These crab cakes were Sunday. Jimmy's Famous Seafood in Dundalk.
RE: Good Eats - Jake - 03-18-2019 I went with my friend Matt to a Cars & Coffee yesterday morning. We passed through the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria on the way home, so we pulled over for a late breakfast/early lunch at Stomping Ground. I had the fried chicken sandwich, which comes on their homemade buttermilk biscuit, served with pickles and pimento cheese: ![]() Bralley had their chilaquiles, with sides of fried chicken and bacon: ![]() If you're in Alexandria for any reason, this place is a must-stop. RE: Good Eats - JPolen01 - 03-18-2019 That biscuit looks awesome. I'm a sucker for a good chicken biscuit. RE: Good Eats - V1GiLaNtE - 03-18-2019 Biscuit places have a special place in my heart. Two popular options here in RVA are Early Bird Biscuit and Fancy Biscuit. So damn good. RE: Good Eats - G.Irish - 03-18-2019 Which cars & coffee is near Alexandria? Never been a fan of king crab. RE: Good Eats - Jake - 03-18-2019 (03-18-2019, 12:24 PM)G.Irish Wrote: Which cars & coffee is near Alexandria? Maybe it's always been over done when I've had it but I'd take snow crab any day over King.(03-18-2019, 10:54 AM)Sijray21 Wrote: :putsonflamesuit: Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk RE: Good Eats - Deceus - 03-23-2019 ![]() Wood Fired Oven in Grottoes. Best chicken parm and garlic bread I've ever had and I've had a lot lol. Good Eats - JPolen01 - 03-23-2019 I can't even see the chicken which is a good sign to me RE: Good Eats - Jewels - 03-25-2019 (03-23-2019, 03:51 PM)Deceus Wrote: I really like their food! They used to have the slowest service ever, so I rarely go there anymore, but maybe I need to hit this up since its 1 of the only 2 restaurants here in Grottoes. I usually go out to eat at off hours though so I'm usually like 1 of 3 tables when I go in. RE: Good Eats - Jewels - 03-25-2019 Yeah, its been probably 2 years since I've been there. I should probably go more since the pickins are slim in Grottoes. Though if you get a chance, check out the taco joint on Cherry, its pretty bangin. RE: Good Eats - WRXtranceformed - 03-25-2019 Wife's been pregnant sick with a cold the last week so I booked us a quick getaway to Charleston. She already got us reservations at our favorite brunch spot High Cotton. The menu: https://highcottoncharleston.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/HC-Brunch-030619.pdf I might have to fire up those chicken and waffles or crabcake benedict!! RE: Good Eats - JPolen01 - 03-25-2019 So many good places to eat in Charleston. It's hard to pick where to go. |
