How bad is it messed up? Have you considered just repairing it? Do you want me to see what a Tong Yang fender would cost for the POS?

I don't know if it can be repaired? I just assumed replacement steel would be more cheaper. And yeah, check on a fender, if you can find one. I don't trust the chinee around my cokes, but I'll take their fenders.

No more posting until you tell us about your Turbo Baby Stroller or whatever you bought to replace the STi.

Soooooooooooooo the sunroof doesn't leak any more.

In a related note: If you need any glass work done, I would take it as a personal favor to me to take it to the Safelite in Manassas. Those guys are awesome.

So.

For the past two mornings, it's been a little tough to start. A little chugging before she catches.

Furthermore, it smells a little of gas and I got a CEL on the way back from dinner today. O2? I'll pull the code tomorrow if it's still there.

Common WRX issue when it gets cold - something about rubber fuel lines contracting. Our does this too. I'm not thrilled about it, but I've put eyes on every fuel line juncture and nothing is spewing out.

Yep- fuel lines contracting. Had that both winters with my 02 WRX. Heard Subaru actually recently announced a recall for that issue, was going to have it done on mine before I sold it.

Also, ice fishing in this car is awesome.

Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - WRXtranceformed - 12-16-2010

I can't speak to the gas smell because my WRX didn't smell and my STi smelled all the time  CEL MIGHT be O2 related or it could be a bad batch of gas. My Subie was very finicky when the gas stations switched over to their winter blends...on my old WRX (not the STi) it was so bad on one tank that my car basically went into limp mode. It would surge really bad. That was when I started to learn the difference between "The Lowest Price" gas at the corner of 15 and 704 and top tier gas stations. So yeah, maybe run that tank out and add in some Shell or equivalent and reset your ECU.

I did *just* fill it up at 7-11....

i thought you and the gravel express were a little too early in the relationship for it to pop that one on you.

Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - CaptainHenreh - 12-16-2010

Well somebody on the internets said it could be caused by cold, so I just cleared it.

Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - HAULN-SS - 12-17-2010

Wow. Hopefully its not as expensive as it was to fix on my malibu (which got it at 82k..fuck)

CaptainHenreh Wrote:I did *just* fill it up at 7-11....

So, I think that was it.

I cleared the code, a day later it came back. I said "Ah, fuck it." Last night, I ran it till it was damn near running on fumes and put 13.3 gallons of Shell 93 octane.

This afternoon, it was gone. So,

Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - WRXtranceformed - 12-29-2010

Nice! Hopefully that's all it was! I really wonder how many of the chain gas stations don't actually put 93 octane in the 93 tanks. Or use gas that is so bad that it might as well be 87 octane. I'm so weird about it even in my non-boosted but strung out NA Honda engine that I cringe if I have to fill up at a no-namer. The car runs noticeably worse.

Rex you might even want to run a can of Seafoam through your next tank of gas just to clean it out.

Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - flintster55 - 12-29-2010

Just curious, why do you think the cheap gas caused a cat efficiency code? Do you still have all the stock cats or have you started down that slippery slope yet?

Re: Project: 2002 WRX Wagon -- The Gravel Express - Kaan - 12-29-2010

No slippery slope yet... That I know of.... But I feel a custom exhaust coming by summer.
