Re: MM Muscle - 1971 Dodge Challenger Coupe - Jeff - 02-16-2011

Ok so thanks to Prof Mike Yankey from the JMU COB for providing me with truck and trailer to get to H-burg. One of the last car shows I made it to he had his T-bird there. The Challenger is currently at Backstreet Customs on Liberty St. getting the headliner installed. We will be picking it up on Thursday so if any of you JMU peeps want to check it out and maybe grab something to eat I will be down there 1ish. I will post some pics once I find my camera.

If you ever need any interior or convertible top work done this guy is amazing. He is on liberty st in Harrisonburg. Backstreet Customs the guy's name is Micheal. He has built some crazy trucks and cars. His dumpy looking little 88 Ranger he drives has a fuel injected 5.0L! He also has a Jeep pickup CREW CAB (find that somewhere) DUALLY (oh, and that to) did I mention it has a 400+ci Olds motor with dual quads and a blower?

Here are the quarters. Coming along very well. Hood on, some paint work still to do. Interior is my next project.

Re: MM Muscle - 1971 Dodge Challenger - Jeff - 03-02-2011

Welcome to a Special Edition of The Challenger Tread.

I want opinions on these wheels before I buy. They are 17X8in American Racing Torq Thrust M's in Anthracite color.

These pictures are taken on a Jack stand which is slightly higher then the tire would have it. Also the suspension is sorta sprung up and adjusted to high anyway. So figure a fender lip maybe...3-4in lower.

At this point I am figuring a 245-50-17in Michelin Pilot Sport tire. Opinions and thoughts needed.

Re: MM Muscle - 1971 Dodge Challenger - Jeff - 03-02-2011

Thanks guys. Other 4 ordered up. Wanna talk tires? I need a 245-50-17in. The car will be driven very little I would imagine outside of nice summer days. I would like to maybe try to autocross it once (lol) but that is not really a consideration. I am thinking of a summer only tire for the look but maybe an all-season might make more sense for the cost. Dad wants "Michigan" tires as well call them but I think spending more on the tires then the wheels is silly.

Dunlop Sport 5000? $202 each anyone know if they are decent?

Re: MM Muscle - 1971 Dodge Challenger - JustinG - 03-02-2011

are you dead set on a 245/50, alot more choices in 245/45, with better tires for WAY cheaper, like 1/2 the price cheaper.

Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110, $105 per, will more than likely be my choice for DD tires on the GSX

Re: MM Muscle - 1971 Dodge Challenger - Jeff - 03-14-2011

UPDATE TIEM y0!

Wheels, tires, and alignment are done.

Also got the right side mirror installed.

Grille and front bumper are done.

Last thing before all over sand and buff one last good time is to paint the rear valence and install tips.

Wow, that thing looks frickin awesome! What an incredible job you guys are doing. Everything, int/ext color combo, wheel/tire size and color, fit looks great...

Wow. That looks really great, Jeff. Congrats on being (mostly) done with things. Can't wait to see it at the car show!!
