Too many IMO.

DJ and I might take the cake for longest running ///Morons, I think he bought the white car like a month before I bought this one back in 2009.

How many are there now? Mine, DJs race car and sedan, Mike D'amico's race car, Jake's... who else? Matt, Tyler and Kyle sold theirs.

I don't think a single n00bie showed up last night with an e36. Did the earth fall of its axis?

Nope, that's why they are noobs

Considering I have nothing but time on my hands as I'm still waiting for my background check to clear, I did some more housekeeping:

Gave the exhaust tips a polish:

Also pulled the wheels off and gave them a good deep clean and started trying to remove some of the permanent brake dust deposits before giving them another coat of sealant. I pulled the radio out and soldered up the twist and tape job I did years ago which will hopefully fix the left side randomly cutting out.

Yesterday afternoon I ran up to PA and bought an OBD-II midpipe and started mocking up what I need to do to make it work on my car:

Measured the distance of the OBD-II pre-cat sensor from the cat and marked it on the new pipe:

Wrestled out the OBD-II post-cat sensors and stuck in a couple plugs:

I'm wondering if I need to grind down the O2 bung I bought, the sensor is baaaaarely in the exhaust stream I don't know if it would get an accurate reading like this?

I also looked at the outer diameter of the pipes and of course they are completely freaking different than the OBD-I and the headers. I think the walls of the pipes are thicker, so I'm not sure there is enough room between them to use an actual flange. I need to cut them a little long and see if they'll slip over the headers so I could use lap-joint. :dunno:

Does anyone have a sawzall I can borrow?

I gotz a sawzall if you need it -- just need to ask a buddy to bring it back over to my house. Jake has my #

Yeah that'd be great if you don't mind!

That's a really long 02 bung. Get the shorter one.

Re: The Long Awaited: The Myth, The Legend, The Douchebagger - SlimKlim - 09-09-2013

Employment: Confirmed.

Credit Card: Cowering in corner.

Sawzall: Acquired.

I'll be in the garage.

When I built my exhaust, some of the muffler stuff had a 3" inner diameter, and some had a 3" outer diameter. I ended up buying a few reducer pieces from Jegs or Summit. If you end up cutting at the wider portion of that pipe, you can probably just buy a reducer from somewhere and just slip it on without too much trouble.

New amp showed up, factory HK unit that'll give the BSW speakers a bit more juice.

Hardware!

Put the trans mounts on:

and reinstalled the driveshaft:

Then I took the exhaust to my shop and had them weld in the O2 sensor bung and drive out two of the frozen bolts on the rear flanges. He had to heat up the flange with a torch and and drive them out with an air hammer.

Then he mounted my tires:

Went up to a 245 to give her a bit more meat.

I need to go to the BMW dealer because Tischer sent me the wrong sized gaskets, and those white clips for the passenger's side skirt in my hardware photo simply shatter when I try to clip in the skirt, so I'm going to grab some double sided tape from Autozone and make it easy on myself.

Then I just need to put the exhaust in, do an oil change, mount the wheels, and clean her up a bit.

Holla if you need a hand!

Re: The Long Awaited: The Myth, The Legend, The Douchebagger - SlimKlim - 09-12-2013

Finished up the little things today. Got the exhaust on, changed the oil and mounted the wheels.

I also stuck some heat tape and weatherstripping on my heat shield and put a new air filter on.

Then took her to try for an inspection sticker, apparently the fuckwits that failed me for the exhaust leak and "disconnected brake wear sensor" that I'm 80% sure they plucked out of the caliper also failed it for "suspension" and didn't tell me about it, at least that I can remember. I have no idea what they failed but the shop I took it to today said it was probably the tires rubbing, I had it on my friend's 245s then so it's a decent guess, the new tires hit the fender liner at full lock and rub a bit in the rear.

The steering wheel is also cockeyed from replacing the column, so the plan is to put her back on jacks tomorrow, attempt to straighten the rack, throw Jake's skinny wheels on it and pray they don't find another reason to fail it. If I can get it passed, I'll put my wheels back on and pay a visit to my shop to see if we can roll the fenders and fix the rubbing issue, then I guess I'll order a 5 or 10mm spacer so the front doesn't rub at full lock. :dunno:

Its was still nice to get her out of her cage for a few minutes:

Re: The Long Awaited: The Myth, The Legend, The Douchebagger - navin - 09-12-2013

You need to find a new inspection station buddy -- I'm hoping you didn't take it to that dickbag that Sunoco (by the McDonald's in Fair Lakes)..

I think Turner Motorsports makes a tool to align the steering wheel back with the rack. I think mine is off on the Hype-R, but I have to do it the old fashioned way Sad

Re: The Long Awaited: The Myth, The Legend, The Douchebagger - SlimKlim - 09-12-2013

The place that failed me was Mr. Tire. They are a bunch of dickwads and I'll never bring them another car. Today I took it to Briar Oaks Exxon which has treated me well in the past. Today they were just gun shy because its "in the system" for "suspension" and the tires I brought in were obviously rubbing. They told me to come back with skinnier tires on it tomorrow, so hopefully when I do it'll be smooth sailing.

Ah, those guys are cool. Hope you get it fixed and on the road soon..!

Re: The Long Awaited: The Myth, The Legend, The Douchebagger - Sully - 09-12-2013

If you're on lowering springs, they could have failed you for that. They failed mine because the spring had play when suspension was at full droop. Its stupid as hell because the fronts are a strut and can not possibly come out and I don't really know anything i would be doing with a M3 that would get the rear at full droop while driving it and even then, they wiggle. Not like as soon as you get near full droop, the springs say f*** it and just shoot out of the pockets.
