Jeff... scope specs?
ps- grats on more toys! Whhhheeeeeee

- CaptainHenreh - 12-18-2008

I'll let jeff brag about it, but it's a Romanian PSL, not an RPK. An RPK is a AK designed as a squad machine gun, and so they were built a little more ruggedly. (Which is why they make such good AK's.)

- Jeff - 12-18-2008

Yes, thanks Rex. It is a PSL/FPK/SSG-97/ROMAK-3 rifle. Many people mistakenly call it a Dragunov, the Russian sniper rifle it shares some physical characteristics with but no working parts. It is basically large AK that shoots 7.62X54R. The receiver I have read shares a lot with the RPK, as mentioned, the AK light machine gun. This one specifically is designated PSL-54C, imported by Century Arms and built by "Arms Arsenal" in Cugir, Romania. The scope is a Romanian copy of a Russian PSO scope. The LPS 4x6┬░ TIP2 is essentially a PSO scope without the battery powered lighted reticle. The reticle at one point was illuminated with radioactive tritium. This however has expired and from what I have read cannot be replaced without tearing the scope completely apart.

I love it! I haven't shot it yet but I can't wait. I'm going to install a real Dragunov SVD flash hider on it, refinish the stock set in a dark Cherry red, and custom fit the stock to my hand. Other then that I just plan on getting a big tin of Combloc ammo and seeing how far out I can touch someone/thing

that is positively badass. damn I want one.

If you really want one there is 1 at Dominion Arms in Manassas for ~850...they're getting more and more rare, as it's a cool-as-hell rifle and 7.62X54R is one of the last "cheap" calibers you can purchase.

Really, my only complaint about this particular rifle is the price of magazines. Sad

- Jeff - 12-18-2008

Yeah freakin $29. But I got two and I don't think I will need more then that. I'm also lucky that mine came with 10rnd mags, most come with 5.

- Evan - 12-18-2008

considering I have put exactly 1 round through my AR, Im going to stop being a gun squid before I buy more guns

- Maengelito - 12-18-2008

so its a bigger and heavier AK that shoots the Russian 7.62x54 instead of the smaller round and has a scope?

I'm more impressed with the Jager soap dispenser in the background.

then just buy a rear sight already.

I mean, thats sorta what it is. But think about it like this...The AK is a Mustang GT, the PSL is a GT500 with a blower. Sorta the same thing, but bigger, better, and faster. (oh, and more expensive too!)

As for the Jager dispenser... I was feeling crafty! Big Grin Used to have a 151 dish soap dispenser but I got rid of that because it was just too much stuff up their around the baller new sink.

- Jeff - 12-18-2008

Funny story about that dispenser while I'm thinking about it. One of my renter's drunken moron friends poured real Jager in that bottle with the soap to "get back" at Zenger for doing something stupid. I laughed that this moron wasted Jagar to foul up my soap for no reason.

One of these days, Jeff is going to make a perfect Swayze from

What a beaut man!!! I'm in the processing of looking around for a new gun to get after christmas. Or upgrade my 10/22 to be a tackdriver....

- John - 12-19-2008

Ah, the prizes of free money from the Chrysler bailout...

Kidding aside, very nice gun. Smile

And legal in the PRC, if I recall...(assuming you modify it to remove the "thumbhole" stock.)

But alot of stuff is legal in Cali that didn't used to be. Mostly thanks to Calguns.net. Hell, they're about this close <_> to invalidating the pistol list restrictions.

- HAULN-SS - 12-20-2008

So is that scope actually good, and useful? Generally a rifle is only as good as it's optics, right?

- Jewels - 12-21-2008

So, Christmas came early in the Elsea household yesterday. My new toy...

I haven't had a chance to fire it, but I can't wait to. Simple 9 MM but I have been looking for a while because I have small hands and I needed something that was comfortable. We bought it at Virginia Arms, they are great guys and we've bought a bunch of stuff from Bernie.

- JohnC - 12-21-2008

Very nice - is that an M&P9c?

I'm a big fan of my new poly pistol - almost 500 rounds through the Glock 30 as of yesterday. For the Glock guys, or anyone who might have some advice - how did you break in your magazines? Mine are super tight, I can barely get the 10th round in, and inserting a full magazine in the pistol with a round already chambered is very difficult.

how many mags do you have? i keep one loaded with personal protection rounds, and just rotate them once a week. empty one, load the next one in the case... keeps the springs from being a pain.

the compact mags use same springs as the full size mags... so they can cause a malfunction if you dont "break" them in.

I just have the two mags that came with it. I think I'm just going to leave them loaded for now, at least until I start noticing them loosen up a bit.
