even when i was a full-time pc user, i didn't ever request ibm/lenovo caue they were hideous.

- Ginger - 03-21-2008

Does it still have the super obnoxious nipple mouse?

- Hunter - 03-23-2008

I actually have an IBM for my research work and it's by far the best PC laptop I've ever owned... aka it's better than an HP and two shitty dells.

That being said, I'm looking to buy a new laptop and I'm strongly favoring a Macbook. I depend on all of you to talk me out of it. Go!

you mean the little red nipple? likely. i love them... seriously. saddened that my mbp doesn't have one. so much better for you ergonomically.

- Ginger - 03-23-2008

Seriously? I have to retrain fingers every time I type on one. If I don't, I end up typing on a completely different part of the page than I intended, mid-sentance. My girlfriend's roommate has a Macbook; I can't tap the touchpad as a mouse click on it. Is it not configured to accept tap inputs, or is it something the hardware doesn't handle?

- Mike - 03-24-2008

I dunno... I would assume not supported by the hardware. They're focusing a lot on their touchpads as of late... maybe that'll be coming soon.

My macbook has tap features along with one touch hold and drag. The older G4 MBs don't have the functionality.

- Mike - 03-24-2008

edit: ok, my mbp has tapping too Tongue i've never used it, and won't.

- Hunter - 03-24-2008

You can turn the touch tapping on and off depending on your preferences with the newer ones. So her Macbook is either 3 or more years old or it's just turned off.

I still love the nipple mouse thing though, I'm actually using one right now. After using one for a few days it becomes far more accurate and easy to use than a touch pad, however it just takes some getting used to.

Whatever...

Yes, there are PC equivalents... are their support ratings as high? Are cust satisfaction as high? Are they as stable? Are they as secure? I just bought my cousin a PC laptop and it's great... for a piece of shit. I'll never buy a PC for myself ever again unless I'm building a server. Windows is bloated to shit now. I hate spyware/adaware/virus software and haven't worried about it until 3 weeks ago. FUUUUUUUUUCK... I hate windows (vista more). I had to start cleaning spyware off after 3 weeks!!!! ARRGHGHTHGH

You know what everyone... let's compromise. Get OSX running on any of these machines and we can call them moderately worth the shit that they're made of.

Then, uhm, you suck at t3h interwebs? I haven't had a single spyware problem the entire time I've owned my laptop. In fact, I've only ever had one in the entire time I've had my own computers... and it was my fault for trying to crack stolen software, anyway.

When you control for fanboyism, probably.

That would be a nice ad campaign though...

"Apple... because you can't get infected doing stupid shit."

Ditto - I havent had any virus software or spyware removal software for 3 years, and haven't had a single problem with data loss due to either. Maybe you hit up the lame pr0n sites?

i have had some basic anti-ad/spyware for 5 years, no problem. F vista though, that won't come near my machine.

- Evan - 03-25-2008

uh oh, jack is on the defensive!!

Unfortunately you'll have to go to vista at some point. Office 2007 wont work on XP, for example =\

You sure about that? The JMU labs are running Office 07 with XP.

- Evan - 03-26-2008

office 07 definately works on xp

- HAULN-SS - 03-26-2008

Maybe it's the other way around - office 03 wont run on vista
