- ScottyB - 01-14-2008 hahaha holy crap this thing is a whale: ![]() and the R34 was no small car either.
- BLINGMW - 01-14-2008 haha the vette looks like a go-kart or something - Hunter - 01-14-2008 holy crap that this is gigantic! The first picture makes it looks like it's going to eat the R34. Sorry I couldn't help it... Yo Skyline sooo fat, whenever you drive to the beach the tide comes in! Yo Skyline sooo fat, it's got it's own area code! - Mike - 01-14-2008 that is ridiculous. the r34 itself is ridiculously large in person... like 1.5x whatever you thought it was in your head. - WRXtranceformed - 02-25-2008 New GTR runs 11.67 in 1/4 mile while hitting its "speed limiter" during the pass. http://honda-portal.com/honda-videos.php?video_id=912 What's this speed limiter you say? From the IS forums: "Off of pre-set, registered (by Nissan) tracks, they are limited to 111 (180kmph), though this will not be implemented in the US. I would think it is a measure to combat street racing and/or severe speeding problems." "I confirm my friend's GT-R will not go past 180km/h. You keep flooring it and nothing happens. It was hoped that once it left Japan, the GPS-based restriction would cease to function. Unfortunately not. In Japan, warranty is voided when the car enters a track, and the car will 'tell' the dealer so. It has to pass a health-check at the dealer in order to revive the warranty. For the time being, Mines has an ECU that will overcome speed limiter. But it is rumoured that HKS will soon release an easier fix." Yeah, and how much does that healthy check cost? $1,000!! That wouldn't fly well in the states at all. - CaptainHenreh - 02-25-2008 111 mph? Pssh. Looks like the MS3 really was a good purchase, seeing as it's faster than a GT-R.
- Goodspeed - 02-25-2008 Check out this video, probably the most impressive feat I've seen yet out of the R35: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/c56dec1c-6662-4063-8365-9a44009e6b66.htm Basically, they run the factory stock R35 GT-R time-attack style against tuned examples of the previous 3 generations and it runs a 1:01.935, barely slower than the 1:01.705 of a highly tuned R34 GT-R. - JackoliciousLegs - 02-29-2008 Fifth gear's review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rGNB7ou ... re=related - Andy - 03-13-2008 Insideline threw the GTR on a mustang dyno and a dynapack. Scroll down towards the bottom to skip all the BS. article mustang dyno part Wrote:When the computer finishes crunching the numbers, the data tells us that the 2009 Nissan GT-R is putting out 406 hp at 6,400 rpm and 414 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm. article dynapack part Wrote:Despite our problems, the two good runs on the Dynapack verify our testing with the Mustang dyno. According to the Dynapack, the output of the Nissan GT-R's V6 peaks at 452 hp at 6,350 rpm and 448 lb-ft of torque at 3,865 rpm.http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=125172?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..1.
- Hunter - 03-13-2008 So apparently it has some power. If my subaru had an engine for each wheel it would be roughly equivalent. Side note: The legend on that figure annoys me. GT-R HP on the far left, GT-R Torque on the far right, and the Porsche labels in the middle... Madness. - ScottyB - 03-13-2008 after after that dyno session, the car was shuttled off the the nearest NISMO qualified dealer for a $1000 checkup, only to find that by taking the wheels off the car to put it on a dynapack, Insideline had voided the warranty. - G.Irish - 03-21-2008 The comparo that will touch off the Bench Racer World War III: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp ... le_id=6594 If you are lazy and wanna skip to the results here they are: GTR:1:56.9 Porsche 911 Turbo: 2:02.1 Corvette Z06: 2:02.2 I have to say I don't believe those numbers at all, especially considering that in every test I've ever seen the Z06 has no trouble at all with the 911 Turbo. I almost wanna scour the internet to witness the flaming and bloodshed over this one. - Mike - 03-21-2008 some hate: http://rr-ax.com/bbs/forums/thread-view ... 51&start=1 http://forums.roadandtrack.com/cars/boa ... .id=Reader - G.Irish - 03-21-2008 The war has begun: http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/sh ... p?t=471251 http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?viewTh ... tID=154494 Ferrari forum http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showth ... p?t=190255 Temple of VTEC http://www.vtec.net/forums/one-message? ... r=1#750270 Corvette forum http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthr ... ?t=1971994 Porsche forum http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/show ... p?t=123023 I'll make sure to read all of this stuff when I'm bored  - .RJ - 03-21-2008 I've never seen a car that everyone tries so hard to hate.... the anti-fanbois are worse than their counterparts. - Mike - 03-21-2008 i don't give a damn about the numbers... technology can make up for the usual power/weight/tire comparisons. i give a damn about how ugly it is. - G.Irish - 03-21-2008 .RJ Wrote:I've never seen a car that everyone tries so hard to hate.... the anti-fanbois are worse than their counterparts. True, but you have to admit 5 seconds a lap is suspect. Perhaps its so confidence inspiring that its easier to push hard but 5 seconds is like, not even close. And that's against a car with more power, more torque, and is significantly lighter. - .RJ - 03-21-2008 G.Irish Wrote:True, but you have to admit 5 seconds a lap is suspect. Yep, it is. I have no doubts that it could be faster than the Z06 and 911, but I have serious doubts that its 5 sec faster at Buttonwillow and 8 seconds faster than at the 'ring. Its still an impressive piece of hardware... I find it amusing that every figure, spec, number or test reported by the magazines is somehow part of an elaborate Nissan conspiracy effort though according to all the internet anti-fanbois. - Maengelito - 03-21-2008 .RJ Wrote:I've never seen a car that everyone tries so hard to hate.... the anti-fanbois are worse than their counterparts. so when is evan gonna buy one then? - WRXtranceformed - 05-02-2008 Wow. Well any skepticism about how fast this car really was is pretty much squashed. I definitely think the power is severely underrated still from what Nissan says, but who cares! This is the second fastest car around the Nurburgring in the world now, and when the V-Spec comes out it will likely beat the Zonda F, which completely blows my mind. http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080501.002 ... -in-7m-29s Quote:The Nissan GT-R can now lay claim to being one of the fastest production cars in the world after GT-R chief test driver Tochio Suzuki completed the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany in just 7 minutes 29 seconds. According to our records, this puts the GT-R in second place for fastest laps by unmodified production cars just behind the Pagani Zonda F which posted a time of 7 minutes and 27 seconds last November. The time completely destroys the GT-R's previous best lap of 7 minutes 38 seconds achieved last year in slightly damp conditions. |
