HA! Fear not my friend, for I missing the the entire front driving assembly, rack included. All hubs, spindals, tierods, etc, are gone from the front AND rear. 5-lug hubs have to be machined, rotors have to be fit, fenders have to be rolled, and that's not including the p/s cooler, oil cooler, and a whole list of "little" things that need done Confusedhock:

*cheers* Here's to late night's, busted knuckles, and getting finished in time */cheers*

Uh.....

- JohnC - 01-20-2005

Hrm... Well, Brian and I just finished putting the front suspension back together on the Z (I finally got around to installed all the poly bushings I had). I need to finish up the water pump install today or tommorrow or Saturday - just have to flush the radiator out, reinstall it, fan assembly, all that jazz.. Oil change and a compression test before the track. Need to remove dust shields from the brakes, and get some track pads. Need to buy some more rotors too (to have on hand as spares). Need to install new odometer.

As for Brian's piece, I'll let him delve into that... Argh.

HA. I predict 3 upside down E30's by turn one within the first 5 minutes of the enduro.

I was actually trying to write something profound yet corny. It's called a crack at humor, ever heard of it?

Sean

- Evan - 01-20-2005

yes, a story about an E30 passing anything on track is indeed humorous Wink

Depending on how Friday practice goes I may come back to Solo2 and play Smile

PDenbigh Wrote:How many of us traveling from Harrisonburg are taking cars that are freshly created/built/modified? I am (The XR), Sean is (The 325), Dave maybe? Anyone else?

The reason I ask is because I like having a little insurance, i.e. a trailer, in case things don't go as planned. Problem is, I hate to spend $130 for the weekend renting it if I don't need it. However, if we can get 3 or 4 people together, and hope that not more than one of us breaks something, we could split that cost down quite a bit. Is anyone interested? Chad and I have done this in the past and it's pretty sweet to have another vehicle around to make runs.

If there's no interest I won't be crushed. Just wanted to throw the idea out there.

Well I have a trailer now, so you guys can use it. The usable space on it is kind of short because it has an equipment box on it but something the size of the XR, 325, or a 240 should be fine methinks.

Here's to you, Mr. Get-Your-Car-Ready-For-A-Track-Event-At-The-Last-Minute-Man. Lesser men would postpone their track endeavors. Women deride your impossible folly. Most people would give up. But not you, Mr. Get-Your-Car-Ready-For-A-Track-Event-At-The-Last-Minute-Man. Undeterred, you toil ceaseless to get more boost, higher cornering speed, or to simply get your busted pile running at marginal functionality to make it through the weekend. You possibly could have had your car ready weeks ago, but that's about as much fun as a race that's won on the first lap. You understand what drama is, you value true glory, and you Mr. Get-Your-Car-Ready-For-A-Track-Event-At-The-Last-Minute-Man, understand what true hero is. While few attempt to emulate your brilliance, you are an inspiration to all of us.

ha, that's nothing. He's got 4 weeks to get it together. A better example was 5 days before we were about to leave for VIR was pete coming back from Mexico on a red eye, getting up at 5am, driving 2hrs to pick up a driveshaft, driving another 2hrs to drop it off at the shop, waiting for them to MAKE ANOTHER ONE and then taking it back 2hrs to the shop so the guy that JUST FINISHED PUTTING IT TOGETHER could install the driveshaft, mind you, the car hadn't been driven even 1 mile in 2-3? years, 5 days before its first track event!

that's dedication (or a shit load of cattle prodding from me Smile)

brilliant!

as for my pile, i have to reinstall an axle, swap rear springs, change the oil, get an alignment and pin point a troubling issue of sputtering sometimes under throttle in the 2.5k-4k rpm range. i replaced the battery (which hadnt been changed since i bought the car in may 2000 and which the advance auto guy said was on its "last leg") and it runs much much better but it still sputtered once which pissed me off. god damn christina!
