RE: Project Canyonero - Senor_Taylor - 11-15-2017 Hey, Taylor checking in here to make a wild guess. I would assume a catch can needs to be serviced too often to put on a production vehicle. Can you imagine selling a car and telling someone they need to have their catch can drained every XXX amount of miles? Sure it could line up with oil changes, but that's a liability if lube techs forget to do it and it fills up and starts pouring oil down your intake. That may not be the reason, and may be a bit extreme, but that's my argument for one side. Be gentle, guys. I thought i remember hearing that you could get one from the factory on some Corvettes though? Some manufacturers are indeed redesigning their systems to compensate for this effect. After doing some research, Mazda's SkyActiv engine may have redesigned its intake manifold or something in their process to prevent this suspended oil to cause buildup. Still many manufacturers haven't really addressed it and there are rumors that it is part of the reason why a lot of them dropped to 60,000 mile powertrain warranties from 100,000. The can holds about 11 oz which is more than two oil changes worth but I usually dump it out every 1500 miles or so. I have no idea what would happen if it got too full but as long as I own it that will not be a problem Also: I stopped by the dealership today and showed my service writer our magazine article and they thought it was the coolest thing ever. The owner of the dealership asked me to autograph it (haha) and they are going to frame it and put it on the wall in the service waiting area! Probably the only time in my life I'll ever be asked for my autograph

RE: Project Canyonero - WRXtranceformed - 12-04-2017 The connections had corroded a bit on the passenger side ballast of my HID retrofit and that headlight went out right before a long trip up to NoVA over Thanksgiving. I got it fixed this morning, got it home and the driver's side went out..... All under warranty but super annoying to carve out my morning when this happens. Otherwise still trucking along! They seem to be more reliable than the HID conversions. Thinking of trying one for the truck since I converted the truck's lights to a projector and seems to have sharp cutoff. It's funny you mention that, I was just looking at the new Morimoto Bi-LED projectors as a possible solution in the future. They're usually just a basic bulb drop in with some kind of fan cooling system. If I keep having issues with the retrofit I may consider going either route. Depending on what the new Rangers look like, I'm most likely going to keep this truck for a while and if I do I don't mind spending the money for the peace of mind. I can't go back to the stock halogens, they are too terrible RE: Project Canyonero - WRXtranceformed - 12-31-2017 Was still having issues with the driver's side light going out occasionally, so I pulled back the fender lining and took a look today. I thought my "guy" had been pretty quick on the fixes each time, unfortunately quick usually leads to return trips. The ballast was lightly zip tied to the fog light wiring way down near the bottom of the fender. It was causing the wiring and all plugs connecting it to the headlight / bulb to be stretched to the point that gravity was pulling on them. ![]() I rechecked all of the connections and used double sided automotive tape to secure the ballast to a flat spot on the frame. I could probably zip tie it too but that stuff is holding pretty good, and it alleviated all of the pressure on those wires. ![]() I assumed that since this side was done poorly the other side was too, and I was correct. The passenger side wiring and ballast components were nearly touching the bottom of the fender and were completely stretched trying to reach to the headlight. Basically any bumps I go over would gradually pull apart all of the connections. I zip tied one of the components to the frame a little higher up and got rid of the tension on this one too. ![]() Hopefully this fixes it for a while, otherwise I found another local guy that specializes in custom headlights and gets good reviews. His shop is also near the gangland ghetto so I hope I don't have to drive up there. My steering wheel has been a little off center so I may need an alignment soon. Could be a great excuse in the near year to go ahead and get the leveling kit done
