Re: Automotive News Discussion - CaptainHenreh - 02-04-2014 While "BMW WTF R U DOIN, STAHP" is definitely in order, that 3 Gran Turismo is sexy as hell. Not sexy enough for me to buy, but sexy enough to lust after. Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 02-04-2014 Meh, the 3GT doesn't really do it for me. 4GC is sexy as hell though. Re: Automotive News Discussion - DavidM - 02-04-2014 SlimKlim Wrote:Meh, the 3GT doesn't really do it for me. 4GC is sexy as hell though. lulz  Re: Automotive News Discussion - HAULN-SS - 02-04-2014 I can't follow this shit at all. I need one of those pictures that is an outline drawing of the side profile of each car done in a different color so I can see how they actually compare and scale. Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 02-04-2014 In all seriousness I'm thinking that when the bmwusa.com site acknowledges the existence of the 4GC, the 3GT will slip into the mist never to be seen again. The cars are so insanely similar I can't possibly imagine having both of them on a showroom floor next to one another. Then again, the F30 is a young chassis, and around the time they were shelling out the 3GT they had to have already framed out the "4-series" model line up. You'd think they'd just wait a year for the 4GC instead of cooking up another 3GT for the interim. If they both end up in a showroom together I think it'll be safe to say that BMW has finally driven itself batshit mad in its attempt to develop an overpriced car for every possible goddamn niche in the new car market. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Sully - 02-05-2014 I thought 4 series were created because they would only ever have two doors somehow making the designations simpler. Oh I miss the days when the number on the back told you the series and engine displacement. What happened to logic like that. Made it easy knowing what it was and what was under the hood Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk Re: Automotive News Discussion - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-05-2014 It's goooooooooooooooolldddd.... I thought RJ would appreciate this (even though it is an ugly color) ![]()
Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 02-05-2014 Looks turrible. Re: Automotive News Discussion - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-05-2014 EPA rates new RAM Ecodiesel at 28mpg highway, 20 around town. Considering my diesel avgs 15.1mpg mixed, and my yukon denali avged 14.5, that is really impressive. Ugly compared to the new Sierra, but improving gas mileage by ~10mpg on average? (improving gas mileage by a little under double?). Different wheels and some more subtle trim would look great. I hope GM responds and puts one in their 1500, as it is a much nicer looking and better handling/smoother ride truck.
Re: Automotive News Discussion - JPolen01 - 02-05-2014 That is impressive. I've been following this truck for a long time now. What's the tow capacity on it? Could it pull your enclosed with a car safely? There were rumors of GM putting a diesel in the canyon/colorado, but I haven't heard anything about one in the 1500. I'm sure they will follow suit soon though. Re: Automotive News Discussion - SlimKlim - 02-05-2014 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:EPA rates new RAM Ecodiesel at 28mpg highway, 20 around town. Considering my diesel avgs 15.1mpg mixed, and my yukon denali avged 14.5, that is really impressive. Only 420ft/lbs tho. It's not gonna have anywhere near the towing capacity of your 2500 and towing a big trailer would probably decimate that highway fuel economy number. My dad has the '12 2500 with the 800ft-lb 6.7L Cummins that is an absolute beast, but it gets about the same mileage as your Chevy. That straight 6 just purrs though. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 02-06-2014 Speaking of trucks, I'm pretty excited to see some revitalization of the small/mid-size truck market. The XJ, for all its old-car quirks, is an awesomely usable daily that's been pretty handy on more than one occasion, so the thought of a small, 4 door, short(er) bed DD-able pickup that gets close to or above 30mpg highway is pretty tantalizing. Apparently the moldy-oldy Frontier could be receiving diesel power in its coming update if this "technical study" is anything to go by (checking back for updates): http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/nissan-is-definetly-planning-a-cummins-diesel-frontier-1517346252/@matthardigree EDIT: http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/nissan-frontier-diesel-runner-teases-a-bright-future-fo-1517452015 Cool. Just bring the rest of it into this decade  ![]() And the Colorado, though to me it needs more small ![]() Plus the Tacoma which should be getting an update soon. If these are smartly priced and properly sized, I think they'd sell like hotcakes and be pretty much perfect DDs. Re: Automotive News Discussion - CaptainHenreh - 02-06-2014 The new Colorado actually appears pretty small. It "looks" big, bit I think it's actually smaller than the old Colorado/Canyon. Re: Automotive News Discussion - Goodspeed - 02-06-2014 I think you're right - that's the best pic I could find that showed some sense of scale, it's just so tall and relatively narrow that it looks deceptively big. Re: Automotive News Discussion - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-06-2014 I am really excited about these new ones. Trucks have just gotten too big. If I was to get married, the wifey wants a cheaper car with 4wd, ground clearance and ability to take the dogs. A diesel frontier/tacoma/canyon/colorado would be easy to DD, meet her needs, and tow all the open-car trailer goodness I would ever want. Going from my enclosed to an open again wouldnt be that big of a deal for me if I could stop DDing a massive diesel truck. I still need a pickup bed though, too many house projects/car projects.
Re: Automotive News Discussion - JustinG - 02-06-2014 Update the interior of the frontier....but I still love the look. Re: Automotive News Discussion - D_Eclipse9916 - 02-06-2014 I wouldn't read too much into that. Not quite as big as the euro midsize trucks (which they use as fullsize trucks) but not as small as the old us toy trucks like the original ranger, s10 and original tacoma. Im looking forward to it. One of these in diesel would let me consolidate my titan and my daily driver. Its just too bad that it wont get here for 2 years. Although Im sure GM will fuck it up somehow and charge $40k for the diesel or something. |
