I AM SO EXCITED.

I've been dying to ask. Can... can i have a test drive when its done? You can put a throttle limiter on it and babysit me in the passengers seat if you want. I've always wanted to get a taste of one since I rode in that maroon one at Verona a few years ago.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - JPolen01 - 08-07-2013

I just want a ride. You may want to put plastic on the seats though.

 When I rode in the one at the autocross, the guy barely gassed it off the start line and then granny shifted into 2nd at like 2k rpms before the first corner and I'm thinking "wtf dude drive this bitch," then he unleashed the beast and I swear we spent more time looking down the course out of the side windows than the windshield. It felt like he was steering it with the throttle pedal.

He also said if you kicked it into 3rd gear on the highway with too much throttle the ass end would step out. Dear God.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-08-2013

I think we all know the answer to those questions. I build cars to beat on them, not to have them look pretty. That said, it is RWD and a decent amount of power, so I will have to make sure whoever drives it is doing it under the right conditions. You can cruise around/get in it a little, but if you want to beat on it, autox or maybe if we find a decent road away from NOVA.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-08-2013

Wait wait wait, maybe I can exchange slave labor for drives. Wink. The wheels that are going on it, aren't going to polish themselves hahaha.

Also am debating what I want to do with the seats. I have a bad back and history of herniated discs, so a lot of stock seats tend to hurt my back on long rides. This includes the vaders. They are gorgeous and clean, and the perfect time to sell them. I also don't ride like Adam Lee Gangsta style down the road, I sit pretty straight up (again for my back). I am debating throwing fixed back seats in the sedan. I never minded it in my GSX. That said, I don't want a roll bar in the car because I want to use the rear seats. Anyone got a good compromise? I figure I can fab pretty much most stock seats/aftermarket in, so I have looked at AMG seats, Jag seats, etc. Prefer black, as eventually the car will get a black swap. I also looked at these, but need to go sit in them. They are said to run a bite wide, which is not good for me:

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - SlimKlim - 08-08-2013

I'd have to commit samurai style suicide for shaming the MM family if I balled that car up. Cruising around will be just fine.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - .RJ - 08-08-2013

I'm not above polishing wheels for a test drive. Just call me Feersty.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - SlimKlim - 08-08-2013

Does your mom's car have the seats with the adjustable lumbar/bolsters? How do you like those for long rides? I hated the vaders too, but I have no complaints with the E46 seats, and the install was really easy all things considered.

Otherwise I'd probably go aftermarket, those Chronos look badass.

Also, you should get a wheel from this guy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-AIRBAG-EURO-SPORTS-STEERING-WHEEL-ALCANTARA-E36-M3-/221201644213?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3380a53ab5

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - JPolen01 - 08-08-2013

I have a good set of black e46 m3 front seats for sale. Steering wheel too if you are interested in trying to fit it to the e36.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - Jake - 08-08-2013

+1 to the idea of E46 M3 seats. I think that's the best thing Joey has done to his car. Soooo comfy.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - SlimKlim - 08-08-2013

^ I think you run into issues with that swap because its a dual stage airbag in a single stage SRS system, and the slip ring is different. I had enough of a headache rewiring an SRS-II wheel into an SRS-I car.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-08-2013

umm I will have to check in my mom's car. Jon, you ask too much money Tongue :asian voice: you give me good deal! :/asian voice: lol.

Joey, that wheel work with stock airbag system? The E46 steering wheel does not, but feels really good.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - navin - 08-08-2013

Sparco's look fugly.. What about some Recaro SRD's..?

Those and the other variations can be had pretty cheap at jdm importers, and I imagine you can prob fab up the brackets yourself.

ps. trade hype-R for LS1 e36? :evileye:

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - JPolen01 - 08-08-2013

DJ, I'll give you a good price this time around. They are just sitting and we want everything gone. FB message me if you have any interest in the seats/wheel and I'll see what I can do on pricing.

Not sure if serious...

And you legit live 4 blocks away from me. I still have your crowbar, and I was sort of kidding. MM is more than welcome to try this thing out.

Picking up H+R OE springs from Boobies to pair on the Ohlins, found out the entire car was gone over with a fine tooth comb. I pulled out the rear suspension to overhaul it....and found brand new bushings and even the RTABs had the limiters already in  Time to put the rear end back together since nothing needs replacement aside from the differential.

Picking up a 3.91 this weekend, so that I dont have a 1st gear that goes out to 65mph. The stock 3.23 gearing would make 6th gear not even useable till around 80/85. With a 3.91, 1700rpm at 70mph.

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-08-2013

Getting stoked to having her back on the road........ Silver sedans aren't as ugly as I thought with a few additions...

Is that the LTW wing?

Re: Project 6.0L Sedan - Evan - 08-08-2013

if you dont mind a fixed back, try to find some Sparco Roadster seats. They are a street friendly fixed back. They were discontinued a couple years back so they can be a little harder to find but ive seen a few new old stock for sale.
Ive considered picking up one or two now before I even need it because it really is IMO the perfect street car seat
