Well the guy is up there on a podium talking about how we should get rid of the ballots and just let him keep on keepin' on, and is turning the national guard and DHS on our own people... so yeah, dictator shit.

We've been round the 2A argument a few times, and SCOTUS has ruled that its not absolute - i.e. it can be restricted. I dont think anyone's guns should go away, FWIW, and I think the bills proposed in Richmond this year were a short sighted knee-jerk reaction to winning the state congress and missed the mark by a long shot. But, despite what seems like overwhelming support for better gun regulation, still nothing happens.

Speaker of the house becomes president on Jan 20, if there is no president to succeed the current.  Its pretty cut and dry.

And some the military leaders leaked out that they are unhappy with the talks of invalidating the election, its a short trip that they'd break ranks and escort that motherfucker out into the streets.

I have never pretended otherwise.

But again I ask, would you want any "common sense speech laws"? Common sense voting laws? There's some crazy religious cults out there maybe we need some restrictions on what can be taught in a church.

Yes, I think the laws proposed in Richmond were off the mark, and the ones they DID pass (1 handgun a month, erpo, etc) were fucking dumb as well.

But they did try, and it is only because of my democratic participation and others like me that they didn't pass.

I'd rather they didn't try again, and especially not at a national level where individuals have less representation.

They = 3p's/bugaloo boys/proud boys/etc groups that also happen to love Trump, the police and "law & order"

Not the protesters.  Just be clear about that.

I get Rex's viewpoints.  And spending enough time outside of NoVa is a really good reminder that the 2 party system, including and especially the democrats, have had a hand in a lot of areas stagnating in infrastructure, education, healthcare, etc, etc.  Its why we got Trump in the first place, and evidence that the billionaires and corporations have far more influence than the individual voters.

Will the current Democrats have a hand in fixing it?  I'm not sure but I'm hopeful, and I do know that if the GOP has spend as much time trying to come up with a better ACA alternative as they have in fighting it in court, we might have something workable and for the first time in a long time I"m not voting 3rd party.

Speech and votes dont kill people.

Literally in this thread is people saying that votes and speech kill people!

"People are emboldened by Trump's tweets"..."if you don't vote for Biden we'll be under a brutal totalitarian regime!"

So...which is it?

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Apoc - 09-25-2020

FWIW, emboldening hate is not the same thing as "literally" killing people. Unless I misread, that's what people have said in this thread.

oh thats not forgotten. but remember the DC democrats put the laws on the books that let it happen. gotta have a permit (where were the 1st amendment folks for that one?!?), cease and desist just has to be announced (not to everyone), and then they can use non lethal.

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Kaan - 09-25-2020

I had a good friend of mine protesting in DC... like in the deep end... but he was like "its not big deal its peaceful"... so i had to go over the "rules" of the game and the potential "price" you can pay and the rights we already gave up.

1. dont get cornered in, stay on the edges as best you can... stay close to the side streets and check them
2. bring your bike and check your 6 a lot
3. bring extra water
4. wear your mtn bike protective gear and cup... and your shooting glasses
5. if you see one bull horn and cant hear... get out

First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

All laws that require a permit to protest violate the first amendment IMHO. unfortunately it leads off with "congress shall" ... so apparently it leaves it open for local governments to do it.

Citation needed. Much like Chan said, the government performs the will of the people... even if I personally voted against it.

DC, Cville, and other cities require a permit to gather. its law, if you dont know it, well... google it. these laws turn a peaceful protest into an unlawful gathering because they dont have a permit.
washington dc: https://mpdc.dc.gov/service/get-permit-special-event
Cville: https://www.charlottesville.gov/460/Special-Event-Permits

in the end there is a price to pay for "civil unrest" and no one should cry about it when it happens. you dont need to like it...you need to know about it and be educated on it...in the photo op gassing, those laws were written by democrats (i dont have to cite it because there hasnt been republican city representation in DC in my life time).

Trust the democrats they say... this law will protect you from the evil KKK (literally the sales pitch) and allow the government to disperse crowds they dont want at will (maybe an unintended consequence).

RE: Electile Dysfunction (Current students plz look!) - Apoc - 09-25-2020

Literally no one said trust the Democrats. Pretty sure the messaging all along has been get that fucker out of office.

I plan to vote for Biden, but a majority of my choices for city and state government a few months ago were R or L. It doesn't have to be binary. {shrug}

Talk is cheap, are you suggesting these riots and firesetting is a right wing false flag?
