Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 09-16-2013 dang. nice. want one myself, but not sure how much i care about takedown. were you able to handle a non-takedown as well? does the td seems just as solid? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 09-16-2013 If you're thinking about a 10-22, and this goes for anyone, you should just go buy one. It's one of those purchases you don't really need to hem and haw about, figure out if you want a wood stock or a synthetic stock and then just buy it. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-16-2013 Mike Wrote:dang. nice. want one myself, but not sure how much i care about takedown. were you able to handle a non-takedown as well? does the td seems just as solid?Yeah I was able to handle both including a wooden one with the crazy looking stock and regular wood stock. Gander was actually running a combo special for one of the other synthetic 10/22s with a scope (Bottom right on THIS page): ![]() I'm pretty sure it was the same Simmons scope I got, maybe one of the lower power models. $280.00 with a mail in rebate isn't bad either. After the initial barrel adjustment you go through with the Takedown it feels so solid, it's seriously impressive how good it feels when the barrel "clicks" in to the receiver/stock and how easy it releases. The best part is that I can have the entire rifle, including the scope since it is on quick release mounts, apart or together in about 15 seconds. The bag that it comes with is actually really nice too. It's a well built range bag that holds the rifle and accessories perfectly (I ordered a few BX-25 mags and another 10 rounder a few days ago): ![]() ![]() The bag coincidentally has a pocket designed to hold the SR-22 which we have for my wife, but it could hold any reasonably sized pistol pretty easily. I saw a clip on Youtube that recommended paintball speed tubes as a way to hold extra ammo. Each one perfectly holds a 525 pack of .22lr and they are cheap and light. Probably going to pick up a few on Amazon. Honestly you can't go wrong with the takedown or standard models. You can always swap out the stock on the standard model to an aftermarket folding stock like this one if you want the stashability: For only $40 more I really liked the fact that the takedown is well engineered, comes apart and goes together super easily right out of the box, feels very solid and even comes with its own bag.
Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-17-2013 Took the 10/22 to the range and got it sighted in. Seriously it might be my favorite gun to shoot now, more even than the AR. Super smooth, super accurate once I had the scope dialed in. The only hiccup is the screws that hold the rail on kept coming loose which obviously made it hard to properly sight in. I didn't want to tighten them too much per the warning in the manual but I am going to crank them down real good and hopefully not have the rail slip loose again. The scope itself works fine, it's not super great but I wasn't expecting it to be for $50.00 - 5%. The collection is steadily growing! Hopefully have a good safe and a citori by the end of the year so I can go dove hunting for the first time. Ain't you never heard of loctite, boy? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-18-2013 The manual specifically said not to use loctite because it could drip into the receiver chamber. The screw holes literally open right into the chamber. So it's fine? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Ryan T - 09-18-2013 Just don't bathe it in loctite. Use a little, put the scope on. Clean the chamber. Let it dry for a while, clean it again, never worry about it again. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-18-2013 Good stuff, I'll have to redo those screws tonight. I'm not going to lie that is one of my favorite purchases in a while. Just the fact that I can take it to an indoor ranger is awesome Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - ViPER1313 - 09-18-2013 Yes to the loctite. The same thing happened to stefs first time out - loctite fixed it right up. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Ryan T - 09-21-2013 Got this email from work. None of our Officers carry the M&P Shield off-duty but I know a few of you guys have one so I figured I'd pass it along. S&W issued a safety alert to a trigger issue with the M&P. https://secure05.lwcdirect.com/front/fr ... paignID=63 Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-21-2013 Thanks yes I checked mine and mine is fine Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 09-24-2013 Traveling across the country with a firearm... If pulled over, tell the officer about it. I'm doing VA -> WV -> KY -> IN -> IL -> WI -> MN -> SD -> WY -> ID -> OR. Any advice or comments? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 09-24-2013 Could you also just mail each gun and the magazines directly to your new place? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 09-24-2013 don't have an address on the other side. Might be more of a pain than it's worth, but an option. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Evan - 09-24-2013 you're moving to Portland, which is where people in San Francisco move because San Francisco isnt liberal enough for them. You sure you want to have guns there? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Mike - 09-24-2013 i don't want it with me, but i feel more comfortable being responsible for it myself than the putting it on the usps. |
