Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 05-08-2013 Nice dude, thank you for the candid review!! The Tavor is still on my short list for after the wedding but was bumped from the top spot by a shotgun after my birthday visit to the skeet range. The biggest drawback for me right now for the Tavor is the still difficult / expensive to acquire ammo. The Tavor is still on my short list for after the wedding but was bumped from the top spot by a shotgun after my birthday visit to the skeet range. The biggest drawback for me right now for the Tavor is the still difficult / expensive to acquire ammo. Well, the ammo will come back, eventually. It's the most common centerfire rifle round in the nation, it can't go "scarce" for long before Adam Smith takes care of the whole thing. Military Arms Channel is a big fan of the Tavor, and had Travis Haley (pbuh) shoot it some at one of his classes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... HUA#t=466s What's funny is that you can see travis (at...I think, 611 seconds) sort of struggle with the short length of the thing. He's got his thumb indexed on the charging handle (A GREAT FUCKIN' IDEA) but his fingers are curled around the handguard in danger of touching the barrel in an effort to get more control. It's the same problem I had. It's the reason I reconfigured julie's AR from these short carbine length handguards: ![]() To these rifle length ones: ![]() (Kind of hard to tell there with the can on the end, but there's only like, 2 and a half inches of barrel poking out of the handguards) 5 extra inches to stretch out the arm to provide support and manage barrel rise for followup shots. (Also, it looks boss) Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 05-08-2013 Definitely looks boss! I am the opposite, I have the Make magwell grip but I have thought about popping on a foregrip. That first one looks really short for sure, I have the same handguard in medium / carbine length and it is perfect for me if I don't have my hand on the magwell grip Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - JustinG - 05-09-2013 Got a soft case for my AR off DVOR last week. Blackhawk Sporster' msrp of $59.99 After using $15 in credits and the DVOR price, it only cost me $17. Very happy with that. Came with the muzzle sleeve and 2 gun straps. Has rows of webbing on both inner sides and a padded divider, and padded along all sides. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pretty discreet looking.....nothing to see here, just my electronic keyboard! ![]() Ordered a mag pouch and used a molle pouch I already had. Can use it to store shooting glasses and ear plugs. May grab some other pouches as I see a need arise. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - KPWSerpiente - 05-09-2013 Nice looking case. It comes with only one barrel sleeve but can hold two guns? -T Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - JustinG - 05-09-2013 Yes. You can buy an extra barrel sleeve. I didn't even know it came with it TBH, was a nice surprise. A sleeve is like $12 from blackhawk. If/when I build an sbr I don't see fitting 2 rifles in this becoming an issue. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 05-10-2013 I am covetous of your buttstock sir! I found another magpul version (acs - http://www.amazon.com/Magpul-Mil-Spec-C ... PXTF9K08EL) on amazon for $100.00 shipped. Its sitting on my wish list along with a new grip and bipod Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 05-10-2013 The ACS and the UBR are totally different animals. The ACS is more like a "Magpul Sopmod", (which is great,) whereas the UBR is unadulterated badass. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - JustinG - 05-10-2013 Yea its the Magpul UBR. And I Looovvvveeee it. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Ryan T - 05-11-2013 Any of you guys ever invest in/experiment with body armor? I've got 3 Paca "concealable" IIIA vests. One is measured and cut to my exact size, one is pretty close and the other fits my wife. While they are surprisingly comfortable for a few hours time they get hhhooottt after several hours of warm weather wear. They fit really well and don't move around at all. Fairly easy to conceal underneath a jacket or big shirt, impossible underneath a polo or tighter fitting short sleeve shirt. I'd love to take one of our spares out to the range and see what rounds penetrate it and at what depths. I've also been looking into some of the hard armor plates just to see how heavy/uncomfortable they would be to wear. Never have gotten a chance to play with any though. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 05-20-2013 Rachael passed her CCW testing this weekend but we are having failure to feed issues with her SR-22 that continued to come up during her qualification. i was a little nervous when i discovered that Ruger does not have a formal warranty program. apparently their customer service is legit so i call in and they send me a new mag to try. if this doesn't work the whole thing has to go in, I'm assuming at my expense to ship. We don't seem to have a lot of luck with brand new guns  Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Apoc - 05-20-2013 Because Ruger? Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 05-28-2013 So we took the arsenal back to the range yesterday and helped a buddy sight in his S&W AR. My gun still cycles flawlessly, sometimes having an issue getting the Lance AWMs to seat right though? They seem to take a lot more effort than the PMAGs that just pop right in. The new magazine seemed to fix the FTF issues the Ruger was having, until about 3 mags in the hammer wouldn't release, the trigger went limp, gun wouldn't cycle and the magazine dropped out after getting it to seat. Not super impressed so far with this gun :/ Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - Kaan - 05-28-2013 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Ruger ....mags those two words should never be related. you dont buy a ruger when it takes mags... period. Are you inserting them on an open or a closed bolt? If closed, the steel feed lips of the AWM are less forgiving and do not "flex" as much under pressure. (you can also mistakenly load them to 31, make sure you aren't doing that.) If open...you doing it wrong maybe? :dunno: Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 05-28-2013 @ Kaan - Yeah I am starting to see why. I am sending the gun and all three mags back in...if we still have the same issue then it is getting sold and swapped out for something else. @ Rex - Hmm I am trying to remember...I feel like it might have been closed actually because I seem to remember opening the bolt to get it to seat. That is good to know. I am pretty sure I wasn't overloading the mags but it is possible. The only issues I have ever had with mags have been surprisingly with both AWMs...even the cheap aluminum mags I bought in bulk are like butter in that gun. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - CaptainHenreh - 05-28-2013 WRXtranceformed Wrote:@ Rex - Hmm I am trying to remember...I feel like it might have been closed actually because I seem to remember opening the bolt to get it to seat. That is good to know. Yeah, seating on a closed bolt (tac reload) is always a little more difficult. The steel feed lips resist 'spreading' when the rounds are forced down by the bolt carrier. An aluminum GI mag or a PMAG will spread a lot more easily, while an HK mag or a AWM won't. The old Lancer L5's would spread easier too. It's not really a "problem" just something to keep in mind. Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 05-28-2013 Thanks for the tips dude! The good news is that the rifle is dialed in pretty well right now. I have zero magnification on either of my sights (aimpoint PRO and magpul manual backups) and I was able to put almost every round of an entire mag through the head of a paper target @ 50 yards, 5 right through the "eyeballs" we made with target stickers. If I ever pull the trigger on a Tavor I will be picking up a high power scope / bipod and using this as a "long" range rifle and swapping the aimpoint and magnifier (that is off my rifle right now) onto the bullpupz Re: Official MM Firearms Thread - WRXtranceformed - 06-11-2013 WRXtranceformed Wrote:So we took the arsenal back to the range yesterday and helped a buddy sight in his S&W AR. They threw in a cleaning cloth for the trouble. Hopefully this fixes the problem for the long term.
