It would be a typical windy winter day, although at the time I did not know it. I aroused myself from sleep, showered, shaved, clothed myself. As I walked out the door, the darkness surrounded me. I thought to myself, "This is the first day of the rest of my life, and the last day of my past. I must make it beautiful." I did not yet realize how beautiful the day would be.

an old black guy stopped me in the supermarket last night to tell me about how he used to have to take 10 heart pills a day for 10 years until he got really sick and the doctor told him he was allergic to yeast which made sense because he drank a case of beer and 8 biscuits every day and couldn't walk 10 feet without having to sit down and rest. he tried to cut Jen and I off with his cart when we tried to make a break for it.
