that survey question was for gun background checks in general. Which, as far as I know, already happen in all states. (anyone know of any states that dont?)
NOT national federal government run background checks/gun registry which is what obama is pushing for.

14 children injured in pressure cooker blast
Rayagada (Orissa), Dec 11, (PTI):
At least 14 children were injured, three of them seriously, after a pressure cooker blew up in Orissa's Rayagada district, the police said today.
The mishap occurred at Kenduguda, about 130 km from here last night when the students of a local school aged between 10 and 15 years, were preparing food in the pressure cooker.
It went off as the whistle opened automatically with a huge sound. The heated particles of the metal spread in all parts of the house causing burn injury to children, who were staying together in a private mess.
While the seriously injured were shifted to MKCG Medical College Hospital at Berhampur, the rest are being treated at a local community health centre.

Then you weren't paying attention.
Modeling your behavior after someone whose practice you disagree with just makes you look like a reductionist and hurts the pro-gun argument, IMO. We know guns aren't the problem, just like we know pressure cookers aren't the problem. We should take the high road in emphasizing that point.

I whole heartedly disagree. I think that illustrates the point, and the hypocrisy succinctly and effectively in a way that is much harder to ignore or tune out for the typical anti-nra idiots.
Im not interested in worrying about hurting someones feelings while talking about the loss of a fundamental human right.

I agree it effectively illustrates the point and I also don't really care about other people's feelings. I just wish people would choose to point out the hypocrisy without sarcasm because it strengthens our argument instead of weakening it.
Splitting hairs? Maybe... but people already think gun advocates are cold and heartless; we don't need to reinforce that.
