I had literally just replaced the lamp for the third time in 8 years I think, I believe one of the control boards died. Rather than keep dumping money into an old TV I was casually shopping around for a new one. I had this one pegged on my Amazon wish list due to the awesome experience I have had with my LG smart/3D TV in the man cave: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KVLT08G/ref ... HMU7&psc=1 I didn't want or need this one to have all the bells and whistles, just a quality picture without the smart functions etc. Walked into Best Buy as I have bought several open box / display models from them over the years (the Mitsu was one) and what do you know, they have this exact model sitting in the open box section! Apparently it was bought and immediately returned; the TV was still in home / store demo selector mode when I turned it on. Scooped it for $530.00, free delivery so I don't have to bum an SUV from my friends and they will even haul off our old TV for free. Nice!!! My old XPS studio is struggling as well (screen went out so we have to plug it into an external monitor to use it) so I bought my wife an Acer Chromebook that was on sale for $159. Seriously impressed with that little thing so far for the money, boots up super fast, crazy long battery life. Should be fine for what we use it for around here
Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Tyler.M - 02-19-2015 Great buy! I was shopping for something to replace my heater with a built in TV 60 inch Samsung plasma. Might have to find one of these Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Jake - 02-19-2015 Nice, Lee! I scored a similar deal on my TV at Best Buy. I think mine was $450 for a 50"? I really don't see the downside. Big fan of the near-nothing thin bezels on these newer TVs. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Mike - 02-19-2015 best buy open box is the way to go on TVs. got a 60" sammy with no bullshit features for $550 a few months ago. had gone in for a $1300 TV. i may have mentioned that here before, but i don't mind repeating because it is that awesome. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Tyler.M - 02-19-2015 Best deal I found was a 60 inch samsung for 400 at walmart. Completely new. Plasma tho.... Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 02-19-2015 Nothing wrong with plasma. It does show better in low light rooms. I picked up a 65 inch Samsung plasma for $650 a month ago. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 02-20-2015 What's a Best Buy? Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 02-20-2015 Apoc Wrote:What's a Best Buy?It's a building where you can go and look at certain electronics and maybe hold them or check the picture quality before you order it on amazon. I mean it's really nice of them to do that for you totally free of charge. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Tyler.M - 02-20-2015 Best Buy is the undead version of Circuit City Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 02-20-2015 What's a Circuit City? Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Tyler.M - 02-20-2015 Its like a bloated Radio Shack. I'm too lazy for that, I just wait for the unit I want to have an open box or whatever on Amazon Warehouse deals. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 02-20-2015 The force is not so strong with Amazon anymore especially with high ticket items. The sales tax is a deal killer. The plasma in our bedroom is still going strong but MAN that thing is like a furnace when you turn it on! I swear you could cook an egg on the top of that thing when it gets fired up. It will no joke heat up the room by several degrees if you leave it on for a while. The new joint seems to be OLED, the magnolia guy was explaining to me how it worked. I have never seen blacks that dark in a TV before, basically the pixels don't activate until there is color. Still super expensive but he was saying those will be the future and should drive down the cost of 4K TVs within the next 6 months Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - BLINGMW - 02-20-2015 WRXtranceformed Wrote:...should drive down the cost of 4K TVs within the next 6 monthsIt may not be that fast, but once they get the mass production down, OLED TVs will be the norm. A few years from now the black friday special at walmart will be a 4K 100" OLED TV for $100. Give it a few more years and we won't even bother putting windows in houses anymore and we'll be replacing the lighting and ceiling tiles in your office with OLED tiles. i.e. Don't buy one now! Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Tyler.M - 02-20-2015 4k hits me as a little gimmicky....
