I decided to stay with Verizon despite the iphone 4 craze and I couldn't be happier. I bought the HTC incredible and...well...it's incredible. sleek, fully functional without noticeable bugs, and great service. I use a lot of things Google and I've found the Android OS to be very useful and easy to use. I've recently started using Google voice and although it's not perfect it helps when I can read my voice mail as opposed to calling and being forced to listen. my only complaint so far is the battery life, but I'm constantly on it...so I can't really complain too much. service is, and has always been, fantastic with Verizon. this thing also takes great pictures. My roommate has an Incredible too and he loves it. Looks super slick and is plenty fast and snappy. Re: Cell phone provider change - Ole - 07-09-2010 Evan Wrote:couldnt have said it better myself Hilarious! Re: Cell phone provider change - G.Irish - 07-09-2010 Evan Wrote:couldnt have said it better myselfWow that was spot on  But I HATE it when I go to a store to buy something specific and the sales person tries to get me to buy something else. My gf was ready to buy a 40" 1080p TV at Best Buy and the dickhead salesman starting telling her how she should buy a 720p plasma because she doesn't have Blu Ray or HD cable yet. Then he proceeded to tell her that if she bought a 1080p TV it would only be for status. Look, it doesn't matter if she wanted to buy the TV to use as a table, if someone is standing in front of you ready to hand you a wad of cash for a product you don't tell them they shouldn't buy it because they don't need it. That would be like walking in a Benz dealership ready to buy a SLR but the salesman tells you that all you need is a C-class.</rant> Re: Cell phone provider change - Mike - 07-09-2010 Which is why I was a failure as a used car salesman. <me>No, that car really sucks.</me> Re: Cell phone provider change - Apoc - 07-09-2010 I don't know why anyone would go to an electronics store to buy anything. It's like paying extra to deal with bullshit. I had a $10 BB gift card I needed to use up and I walked around the computer section just to kill some time. The best was when a blue shirt was trying to sell extended warranty by telling a customer he could throw the laptop down the stairs and get a new one and how "his job isn't to sell him stuff, but to make sure he's happy." The whole experience was downright entertaining. The story behind the video: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/10_29/b4187040889403.htm">http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/10_29/b4187040889403.htm</a><!-- m --> A Viral iPhone Video Annoys Best Buy Mobile-gear salesman Brian Maupin mocks Apple and HTC, and may lose his job as a result Re: Cell phone provider change - WRXtranceformed - 07-09-2010 You can occasionally get good deals at Best Buy. I got my 65" 1080P DLP TV about 3 years ago for about $1,000 as a Best Buy display model. They had closed out the model and were trying to get rid of it. Just before the new model came out, they were around $2500 if I remember right. I've replaced one bulb under warranty and since then it's been flawless. Re: Cell phone provider change - missmotocross3 - 07-09-2010 I feel like iPhones get reception like the desert gets rain. I have Verizon and I find that I pretty much always get service. We got a new Best Buy in Harrisonburg! Mark and I went and they have some pretty reasonable prices on TVs. They also offer like no interest for a year on certain things...the flat screens are VERY tempting haha
Re: Cell phone provider change - Jake - 07-10-2010 I'll chime in on the iPhone train. Originally had the first (edge-only) iPhone in 07, upgraded to a 3G, then got the iPhone 4 on launch day a few weeks ago. Haven't had any service issues with any of them. I find that between NoVA and Harrisonburg (including towns/roads/highways in between) the service is very good. Screen on my iPhone 4 is just incredible, very very sharp and high-definition. The camera is above average for a cell cam and the HD video recording (720p) is nice to have. No case on it yet, either. I generally hate cell phone cases because they tend to universally suck. My solution is to not drop the phone. Much. Re: Cell phone provider change - Apoc - 07-10-2010 Don't you work for Apple? Or am I confusing you with another person I don't know? Quit back in January and I'm interning for AOL this summer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Re: Cell phone provider change - JustinG - 07-11-2010 Jake can you make it do the whole signal loss thing everyone ia bitching about? Just curious. Re: Cell phone provider change - Evan - 07-11-2010 as a gadget nerd, and even as an apple h8r, I can say the iPhone 4 is a very nice peice of hardware. Not my personal cup of tea, since I hate brickphones without a keyboard, but the specs on it are impressive. IMO it is the first iPhone hardware that isnt already much out of date the day it came out. The OS on the other hand, while game changing in 2006, hasnt kept up at all, and the tack-on multitasking is kludgy and pretty poor effort for Apple. I really hope HPalm does some good things with webOS, and they keep the same form factor of the next Pre. If I cover the entire bottom half of the phone (and therefore the antennae) I can make it drop a bar. Doesn't affect signal or ability to make calls, use data, etc. Re: Cell phone provider change - Maengelito - 07-22-2010 I just got my Droid Incredible yesterday and I gotta say its pretty slick. I didn't have that much time to play with it yesterday so I can't really give a worthwhile critique of it yet. Since this is my first smartphone, do you guys have any recommendations on cool or handy apps that I should download? I do know that Pandora (and Slacker/Grooveshark) are awesome to have on any smartphone. Hook that jank up to your home stereo or car stereo and have free, good music that's all your taste and nothing more. I love streaming Slacker or Pandora while I drive over 3G. Re: Cell phone provider change - terdcivic - 07-22-2010 Man, everyone has a smart phone these days; am I the only person that would prefer a durable and small phone that makes calls and can text adequately? Plus everywhere I am has WiFi  Re: Cell phone provider change - WRXtranceformed - 07-22-2010 terdcivic Wrote:Man, everyone has a smart phone these days; am I the only person that would prefer a durable and small phone that makes calls and can text adequately?Wait until you get into the business world. Standard phones won't cut it for many job requirements. Some days I don't use my computer at all at home because I can use my phone on my wifis. Good point, but so many students have them. Do a lot of businesses provide you with a phone or give you money to pay for a data plan? I will most likely look at it differently when I have a lot more expendible income. |
