No, I am using the BB Storm. Yes me, the old fart, non-tech savvy, not hip, moron...is using a BB Storm. Next thing, I'll be designing my own website.......

Kool-aid would be adamantly defending the Storm or something equally asinine. I had a friend finally give up on that a few weeks ago. Find me a review that says the iPhone sucks compared to the competition... Or is everyone in the world drinking the kool-aid?

The Storm sucks big fat donkey balls, so it's good he can admit the truth. Note I was debating your assertion of "vastly superior", not that the "iphone sucks compared to the competition"... but thanks for polarizing the debate. My point is that there really isn't anything that makes the iphone "vastly superior" and I don't think you can say that until you've tried another smart phone (that isn't the Storm). I'm not just hating on it because it's an Apple product, I think it does things well but has equals with varying pluses and minuses in the market.... just like the laptops.

Here's a review, from someone well known in the industry, that says they would be happy with either an iphone or a bold.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/07/16/blackberry-bold-vs-iphone-3g-yeah-we-definitely-went-there/">http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/07/ ... ent-there/</a><!-- m -->

My iphone anecdote:
I was in a meeting with an iphone user and I wanted to send him that porn movie flow chart. I sent it as an MMS but he couldn't get his authentication right to view the picture after clicking the link (since they don't have real MMS). In response I sent him the image URL as a text but he couldn't get to that either since it wasn't a hot link and he couldn't copy and paste. So I had to send it as an email so he could view it. That's some superiority.

great point, strong argument.

the bold... good point... good product... there goes my "vastly superior" Tongue the iphone is a better choice for more of the market, though. apps, streamlines with a computer a bit better (especially a mac), very intuitive, attractive, better browsing experience.

How to know when your iPhone will claim the Internet doesn't exist -

1 - You actually need to use it.
2 - You have full 3G signal
3 - You're 1300ft above the ground in Tysons Corner
4 - You're ground level in Tysons Corner
5 - You are me.

Honestly, I am more surprised when my Internet works than when it doesn't. It absofuckinglutely will not work if I have full signal. Blows my mind.

I love my 24 hour battery life, too. :-|

I'm hopping for an honest to God iPhone killer to come out (preferably on the AT&T network) so I can pass the iPhone to my gf and move on to a better phone. For me, the only thing that qualifies as an iPhone Killer is something that has full email capabilities and a great web browser. Based on the Bold videos, it is not the iPhone killer.

Alright! Keep it going! I haven't seen a tower of babble in a long time

- Dave - 03-03-2009

My phone takes crappy pictures, texts as fast as I need it to, and makes phone calls pretty well. It was also free.

To me, that makes it just as good as an iphone :-).

If the iphone plan was cheaper or they had a family plan with shared minutes and texting, we probably would've bought one by now.

Jack would probably know better than I would, but it seems like a lot of the app developers live/work in the SF bay area so a lot of apps seem a lot more useful here than most other places. For ex: Yelp is huge here. It's really well developed and supported by SF'ers. Most folks including myself will yelp restaurants before we go there. There's also NextMuni which gives you realtime updates of buses and the BART system cause most folks use public trans here.

Yelp is pretty big here as well. NextMuni? Yeah, not so useful here with our lovely Metro system Tongue

Where do i find that app? Confusedhock:

So basically I thought I was moving up in the information age and I really got a pos? I haven't had any problems with this thing. I know of some that did, but I think they have worked out the kinks. I would have purchased an I-Phone but ATT service is terrible at most of the tracks and lakes that I go to. My wife has ATT and she is always using my phone because her service is so poor.

Ole Wrote:My wife has ATT and she is always using my phone because her service is so poor.

I tried a few phones when I switched to ATT and the service or sound quality was not good quite a few of them - I was able to return each one after a few days and get something else, eventually I settled on a Motorola krzr - the UI is crappy, but the reception was fantastic. It may not be the service....

- Apoc - 03-04-2009

The general consensus is that the Storm was pushed out a bit too early to compete with the iPhone and that it would have seriously benefited from another month or two in development. It's not a POS per se, it's just not the iPhone killer that Verizon and BB marketed it to be. The market seems to think the next version will be a whole lot better. If it were my money, I'd get a Bold before a Storm 10 times out of 10.

- Ole - 03-04-2009

Well my last phone was 5 yrs old so this was a quantum leap for me. I am amazed at what I can now do. I have heard that hey pushed it out too soon as you say.

- .RJ - 03-04-2009

Back on topic... I need a good calendar app - work outlook pushes calendar to the iphone calendar. I'd prefer not to keep all the personal stuff on the work calendar, so...

Didnt see anything that looked worthwhile browsing the app store. Suggestions? Something with tasks and appointments would be good.

- Apoc - 03-04-2009

lol.... buying a calendar. that's so... rj.

Just keep work off your personal phone.

"You have an appointment with the front end of a Toyota Corolla at 4:24."

Apoc Wrote:Just keep work off your personal phone.

Part of the reason for getting the phone was to get work email and expense the service $$.
