I remember Danny telling me that water pumps are like 300 bucks and the timing belt has to be changed every 30K. The thing has 2 timing belts and a balance shaft belt. It also has to be retensioned every 15K. The best part is that it's an interference motor so if you don't, you're driving around in a really expensive timebomb. Honestly, I wouldn't pick most if any of these cars if I was still in school especially cars like S2K and MR2's. These cars are so impractical. Thayer has a GF so he doesn't need a pussywagon. Thayer doesn't have an interest in trackdays so he doesn't need a Vette which is the only reason I would get one. WRX wagon or MazdaSpeed3 would be the way to go in my book. It's a turbo, gets good gas mileage and is a wagon so it's practical which keeps the GF happy. - REED - 12-21-2006 TurboOmni08 Wrote:S2000 is sweet...but any car that is less practical then a Supra should automatically be stricken from any person's "my daily driver" list as far as I am concerned so you are suggesting an MR2 as a more practical suggestion over an S2000? - ScottyB - 12-21-2006 Andy Wrote:WRX wagon or MazdaSpeed3 would be the way to go in my book. - Jeff - 12-21-2006 Yeah I know, I wondered who was going to say something. Right after I wrote it I thought about it, but I was too tired to turn the computer back on to edit and close that loop hole. They are both impractical, neither one would be a choice for an only car. I hope he keeps the Supra...its a neat car...nothing listed will top it for being quasi unique and cool. - Feersty - 12-21-2006 Andy Wrote:Honestly, I wouldn't pick most if any of these cars if I was still in school especially cars like S2K and MR2's. Supra fits the bill now, wait till you have a fulltime job and then finances will make that decision easier. - Ryan T - 12-21-2006 As I said before impracticality is not a problem. I have no need for it really. Anytime I need utility or practicality I drive maggie's pt cruiser or my truck. - BLAIR - 12-22-2006 keep the supra..its cool.. if not sell the supra and get a 5 speed SC ( same thing but less than half the cost) and have like 10 grand left over to play with - JustinG - 12-23-2006 FD + LS1 = Thayer - Goodspeed - 12-24-2006 I think the WRX would be the best option out of all the above, its quick, practical, and they're just plain cool cars, no real downside to them. But the more I think about it, I think it would be really cool to see you keep the Supra until you can at least go NA-T...it'll cost a few grand and I know you've thought about doing it in the past, but it would be fast and unique, and may end up being easier than buying a whole new car. If the Supra is good for you in every way, but you want more performance, I think it would be worth it to hold out a little longer - .RJ - 12-24-2006 http://forums.corner-carvers.com/showthread.php?t=32524 Its all you. - HAULN-SS - 12-24-2006 yeah, long as he gets a 20g loan - Hunter - 12-24-2006 Whats the black market like for organ donations these days? |
