- Apoc - 11-10-2006 I'd like to see some data to support your claims. Are you actually suggesting that HOAs hurt value because they decrease demand? I certainly hope not because this is the first I've heard of people refusing to live there because of it. People bitch, but I can't say I've heard of people refusing to live there. They're just a fact of life in the communities of this area. Either way, I didn't say I liked them because my house was going to be worth more, I said I liked them because I don't want to live in a shithole neighborhood. Warm and fuzzy is what I want, my last neighborhood pissed me off and is one of the primary reasons we moved. Oh and the people it keeps out... we don't want anyway.
- Evan - 11-10-2006 I dont have any data other than simple economics combined with my experience, so call it my opinion if you will. I know plenty of people who simply refuse to live in HOAs, and talking to my real estate agent she said she has had many clients who wont look at HOA homes. Enough of this and its going to reduce demand. I also have seen many neighborhoods without HOAs that look great, I think the scare tactics of the "horrible neighbors with rusted out cars in the lawn" arent realistic in this area (unless you live next to me EDIT: or out in BFE where chris likes to live )
- Apoc - 11-10-2006 You didn't see my last neighborhood... altho the rusted out cars were in the driveway and those on the lawn where just parked there overnight. - .RJ - 11-10-2006 Sebastian's neighbor put up a new door knocker, and got a nastygram from the HOA because it wasnt preapproved, and had to come down. My suggestion was to replace the knocker with a 12" bronze dildo. Fuck HOA's - white_2kgt - 11-10-2006 I won't move into an area w/ HOA, of any kind. - Feersty - 05-01-2007 Looking to move out soon. I responded to ads on craigslist, but was wondering if anyone knew anyone that needed a roommate, perferably a room in a single family house. Huntington area of Alexandria prefered. Thanks! - HAULN-SS - 05-01-2007 Im probably not going to be looking for a place til jan/feb next year..if anyone else is going to be looking around then, gimme a heads up |
